A guilty flush rose to his cheeks, because he could hardly stand the idea that he had given insult to somebody else. But, it was necessary. He had to know what was going on. Silently he struggled with the idea, because that seemed impossible. Humans had misery... and they conquered that misery and grew from it. He wasn't all that sure that humans needed to be spared it. What would they be without misery, without that experience to provoke them towards the light of all things? His silent struggle began to show on his face, the lines of his forehead creasing as his brows drew down together. "I... don't agree. We need misery, we learn and become better from experiencing misery. I don't like what the human race would become without it..." His lips drew down into a delicate frown. It was a noble idea, and not necessary wrong, but he just didn't agree.

"You can still walk me home, if you want, or I can walk by myself." He glanced down to the sidewalk, feeling a little bad for not agreeing with Lucifuge. "...I guess you wouldn't be offering to protect me and Neil. I don't really think you're bad, honest. I just..." Once again he was struggling to find his words, and in the end he just gave up, "I think I want to start heading home again."

Perhaps the best way to protect Soah would be to suggest him to the mistress, decided Lucifuge. He certainly had one of the traits she sought... "I think I would prefer to accompany you," he said flatly, his not-voice almost silent with the lack of intonation. Calmly, as if he weren't relieved to have skirted this situation and come out of it perhaps the better, he put his hands back in his pockets and started walking. "All I said was true. I would appreciate it if you would at least think on my offer. It couldn't hurt you, after all."

He grimaced at the lack of anything in Lucifuge's voice - it was just there, and that bothered him more then Lucifuge being angry would have. He felt the guilt rise in the pit of his stomach. He really didn't want Lucifuge to be upset at him for not agreeing, but he couldn't help it. He always went with what he believed, and he could not bring himself around to see Lucifuge's point of view. No, Soah would follow his own path, his own beliefs. He held fast to them, cherished them as much as he cherished anything else, if not more so. Soah's beliefs were what made him strong, and for him to waver in them would take away that strength... the strength that was carrying him through his ordeal with Merihem.

"Okay," he replied numbly to Lucifuge, and once again he began to walk down the street. He could not meet his indigo eyes to meet Lucifuge's once again, Soah refused to feel any more guilty for his choice. "I wouldn't dare bother you with my safety. I can take care of myself, and I have Neil, and he'll keep me safe despite how many times I tell him not to. I will be fine, don't concern yourself with me. I always manage to come out on top, and perfectly all right."

Yes, he'd definitely be recommending this one to the mistress for a very singular role in their plot. Nevermind it wouldn't be a bother, thought Lucifuge. He'd be glad to have this one in Hell's hierarchy, firmly in a place where Soah would have to obey... While the ranks were more fluid here on Gaia, limited by contract, his powers were as free as they would be in Hell. No one disobeyed the Prime Minister, not without suffering for it...

He quashed those thoughts and settled for looking at Soah in a measuring fashion. It entertained him to think of how the boy might react if he knew how exactly the mistress planned to free the humans of their misery... Or if he knew who the mistress was. "If you don't want me to be bothered, be more careful," he said finally.

They had turned down Soah's road a few minutes ago, and now that they had travelled far enough, he could see his pristine white home a few houses down. It was smaller than most of the other buildings, but it had a homey feel for Soah. The interior was so much nicer than the exterior, much more exquisite and fine then the plain white paint and the quaint cobblestone driveway. The grass was an off-shade of green, but he had put some more fertilizer on it for his dad, and so hopefully the grass would become more green and less yellow with time.

"I will be, I told you I would. So, really, stop worrying so much. I have my dad and Neil to do that for you." He shrugged off Lucifuge's concern once again, because he was certain that he didn't want it. He could take care of himself - he was fifteen and he was on top of the world. He was good looking, and intelligent enough to get by... so why should anyone worry about him? He would worry for himself if it was needed.

"It doesn't work that way," he said, stopping at the end of the driveway. This location was exactly where he had expected to end up, so his plans for the evening- made in the silence while walking- didn't have to change. "Good night, Soah. I hope you sleep well."

"It works, It works the way I want it to work," Soah said stubbornly, a pout forming on his cupid-bow lips. He paused next to Lucifuge, sweetly dark eyes just for a moment taking in the other's darker face. But then his gaze drifted way, up to the little red door. He considered going through the window would be better than going through the front door. It would run less risk of Soah getting caught by his father, though he was certain that Merihem was lingering in his room, waiting for him to return. "Good night, Mr. Rofocale. I'm tired enough that I'm sure I'll sleep well." With his good-byes said, he walked up his driveway, and took the risk of going through the front door to sneak back into his room.
