Pale, ivory claws trailed across a sandy spot near the lake. Sofiel dragged her feet, tripping every once in awhile when she unconciously walked over a small hole or root sticking up from the ground. Her golden eyes watched the flowing rapids. A sigh escaped past her teeth. Sofiel was lost. She had just ditched her older brothers to go out and explore, and she had lost her way. Flying still came hard for her, and she didn't want to risk injuring herself while she was alone. Sofiel walked over to the shoreline and sat down next to a large boulder. Her eyes closed and she leaned against the rock. It's smooth, cool surface comforted her and help calm her worried heart. 'They'll find me eventually. It'll just be a matter of time before Fenris comes storming out of those bushes over there...I hope that mother doesn't scold me too bad.'

It just so happened that someone else was equally lost nearby. A brilliant chi'lin male looked around, worried. Huang had decided to go exploring up in the mountains and gotten horribly lost. It wasn't his fault that one couldn't see which way was which when the ground was so uneven, oh, no it wasn't, but it was irrational to blame the landscape for that fact.
He had finally found a lake, and he thought the trees looked a bit happier since he arrived, though that sounded a little silly to him. Hearing a small noise over by a large boulder after taking a sip of the clear water, he looked around and saw a small red p'an lun, smaller than he'd ever seen before. Curious, he walked over very quietly, extending his mottled muzzle to touch it.
"Are you lost?" he asked gently in his soft, deep voice. "Where's your mother? I'm sure she's not too far away." He scolded himself about that last bit. Of course it's mother wouldn't be very far away, since little Painters never went very far from their mother's side...or at least, young chi'lins didn't go very far away, even though they were much bigger than this p'an lun. Maybe it was different for other Painters?
