Name: Kael IcewyndGender: Female
Age: 22 [Birthdate - May 12, AL 88]
Rank: Lieutenant
Patrol: White Shadow
Appearance: She is of an average height, about 5'5, and a very slightly slimmer-than-average build with a feminine figure that she is proud of. The girl is blessed with curves and....not lacking in the assets, but only reasonably so. Built for speed and agility rather than strength she'd probably lose in just about any arm-wrestling contest but can outrun and outmaneuver a great many people. Her skin is a lovely darker tan that contrasts immensely with her brilliantly white hair and prismatic blue and purple eyes. Clothing varies, but is normally at least somewhat form-fitting. A black cloth acts as a sort of glove for her right hand and a cover for the lower part of her right forearm, secured in place by criss-crossing bands of red leather. Emerging from underneath the cloth and running all the way up to her shoulder are numerous scars, large and gruesome, slowly worsening as they reach the cloth and going nearly all the way around the outer side of her arm. Kael is never, ever seen without this cover, and will explain that the worst of her scars should not be seen if asked about it.
Personality: Not necessarily quiet, but not outspoken either, Kael is about half thought and half speech. She rarely ever says anything but what she means, preferring the blunt to the cryptic. The girl typically lacks in spoken wit simply because she sees no point in it but is mentally sharp and cunning. Kael is friendly and helpful to those who need assistance but always maintains an professional aloofness that few transcend. An intelligent conversation is a sure way to win her over. She enjoys the opportunity for battle that the military provides but also likes to solve problems and nurture a camaraderie that she feels should be present in the service, and usually holds no secret motives despite an ambition to rise above her peers. The Apprentice does not have a commanding personality, persay, but handles herself and thinks of herself as a leader, usually knowing how to get things done and the best way to go about doing them. It is not a secret that she aspires and hopes to rise in rank, but the true depth of that aspiration is a personal goal that has become nearly a necessity - not because she wants the power, but because she knows she can do the job correctly. The fact that she will most likely not achieve her goal has not yet dampened that drive.
She handles every situation with that same aforementioned professional aloofness, and even in conflict maintains an air of civility...for the most part. She does not anger any easier or harder than your average person, but the level of her anger at any given time is often hard to judge. She has no hope in winning any sort of physical fight should an opponent start one, and therefore avoids such situations if she can. However she always has a knife or two with her, and will not hesitate to use it if absolutely necessary. The only time one will truly see unreserved ferocity from Kael is if a friend or family member, wolf or otherwise and especially a female one, is threatened.
History: She was raised by her father and for a short time by her mother, though the father is the one who caused all the damage. She was abused on frequent occasions both sexually, physically, and otherwise all the way through her childhood and partially through her teenage years. The scars on her arm are from the most devastating of those situations, in which her father - a metalworker at the time - slashed repeatedly at her right arm with a red-hot blade. The injury to her muscles and skin, especially those near her wrist, was nearly irreparable, and it was after that situation that she plotted her escape. At the age of 16 she left her father's household late one night and ran to the Academy, where she joined the ranks of the Recruits. At the age of 19 she bonded with a young male wolf called Ember.
Now freed from her father and suddenly deemed different than her peers, Kael set out to make the best of the situation she was now in. The leader and problem-solver in her began to emerge, and she began to make a name for herself. Problems began to emerge - she, and Ember, realized just how aloof she was and how difficult it was for her to get close to anyone, especially a man. Her emotional issues run deeper than the scars on her arm. She sees very little problem with it - if she's not close to anyone, no one will hurt her again. But Ember encourages her to fight past her wounds, and so she tries - for him, if nothing else.
