He sat outside a small oasis on the far side of the gardens. A place where his kind were to live when they had no will to live within the lush greenery like the others. His black coat made him stand out against the golden sand around him, resting over his shoulder a black crescent bladed scythe. Streaking along it small blue sparks of unworldly power. Power that would do greater damage in the paws of an imbecile. Standing from his point of guard duty, he wandered into the sifting sands. He had taken his scythe into his mouth, the white ribbons waving as he walked. The great dog searched for something to do, someone to play with until the sun sat and he was forced to fofill his duties again.
"Where's a stupid pup when you want one." He thought as his glowing white eyes glanced around the sands finding nothing of real interest.

Nefertiti had become a strong female since her birth in this warm place. She was intelligent, bold, kind, ter her demeanor made people cower fromher, as she was also very demandinglt dominant. What she wanted you to do, you did.
She was a sweet girl though only her friends truly knew that..Of which, she had one or two..
She didnt know why she was here, or what had attracted her to these sandy dunes.
A scorpion, almost as big as she was, skittered across the ground, trying to keep away from her kind, as she tended to enjoy snackingon them.
Lucky for him, there was no hunger roaring through her belly right now.
Her black eyes were emotionless, as she scanned the desert, keeping a keen eye out around her.
Something was around..and she was beginning to feel unnerved.

Anubis pulled himself to the top of one of the dunes that littered the surroundings. There he placed his haunches onto the ground, his scythe placed resting against a shoulder. Well there was something, though it wasn't much to his interest in the very least. The great hound had been a god too long to be fooled by much anymore, he was one that shepherded souls to the underworld for many a years, though now a days there were less and less to take and he had found his time laying around watching the sand blow this way and that.
"Maybe I should tell M'lady that was should leave this godforsaken place for something more... 'Fun'" The hound muttered as he sat almost statue like on the dune top. The winds blowing from behind him making the white ribbon's wave around his neck.

She saw the great black hound, and her eyes widened slightly, but she did not show fear or excitement. She knew how to handle strange outsiders.. truly she did. She had been one for mediating between the clans at onepoint.
She was very much the princess aorund here, in name moreso than attitude.
She helped the weak and innocent, yet she was strong and forceful. A good warrior to have.
But she stood tall and proud, not willing to look weak to anyone, least of all the blackhound.
As she stepped closer, his glowing eyes made her rethink her steps. Should she really approach something so..sinister?
Yet something about him made him familiar..His face was plastered all over the walls of the pyramids..
"You there!"
She called out, not really beingrude. but a hello seemed out of place.

The head of the black marble statue turned and tilted down toward where the golden female had been coming from. His eyes narrowed as she watched her , calculating, before he looked back to where he had once before. The winds shifted blowing the ribbons on his staff behind him. He was indeed that, but there were other things on the black hounds mind that were more pressing then a female's insistent yammering even if all she had uttered to him was 'You there'
"Of course I am here, where else would I be? Scratching the dirt pit looking for worthless trinkets that sparkled?" He asked, his tone deep and harsh. One that would say he had been living for a very long time.
Head tilting off to one side, the hound's ever glowing eyes watched the female, almost daring her to draw closer to him. A shoulder rolled though the staff that leaned against it remained in place. It wasn't time yet, this one hadn't stepped out of line around him. He would just have to wait, though his goddess wouldn't much like him 'taking on' a female, though she wasn't in his presence at the moment so he was free to do as he please. Oh yes, Anubis waited for this one to slip up before the staff would be at her throat...

Nefertiti felt the danger od the male, and hermuscles tensed, telling her not to move, not to go closer..She felt that this could be her death, and she wasnt even sure why.
"Who are you.."
She asked, cocking her head after that feeling had subsided long enough for her breath to reenter her lungs.
The male was sppoky, staring at her like she was onlya step away..but a step away from what?
She felt the urge to walk closer..to stand next to him, but she forced herself tostay back until her question was answered.

The black hound watched the golden one closely, watching how the muscles moved beneath her coat, the expansion of her chest as she breathed. Wondering how long it would take for them to still when a gaping hole was gorged through them. Long ears twitched her question as his head turned away from her, erasing the thoughts that had clouded his mind and thinking.
"My deem was Anubis long before your time and the time of the great kings that had once ruled these sandy lands." He drawled in a deep voice, one that made some rethink their actions on coming closer to the hound. "There is one other that lives within these lands that is as old as I am and she don't take kindly to small chit chat. So if you meet her make your statements quick before she loses her temper." He gave in simple warning, though knew other wise that Bast loved company and the company of other females for the most part.

So he was the great Anubis then. eh? He sure didnt look like much, and nothing near as powerful as he looked in all the old pictures and stories..
But she cocked her head, looking at him curiously.
"That right?"
She asked.
"Im Nefertiti.. Princess of..well, not here."
She said, looking about her as the sandy dunes were not hte dunes of home.
Okay, so she had gotten lost. She sure as hell wasnt going to tell him, and even if he found out so what..She was lost, and a temper from him wouldnt change it.
"Got it.. Keep it simple."
Truth was, Nef never really kept anything simple. She would probably talk her ear off.

He remained still and silent, though let the femme's words in one ear and just about out the other as if they were mindless babble, one that could get someone killed in the long run. Snort wrinkling back a bit as an ear turned listening to the sands that seemed to shift behind him. Did he move? Not really, only to rill the staff from his shoulder. With a quick movement it was within his mouth and gone again. The black bladed staff soared through the air spiraling a bit before landing with deadly accuracy on what could have been just about anything behind the dune.
Standing upon his black paws, he turned uncaring and ambled over to where his staff had come down to. His ears barely registered the scream that had come from whatever the staff had struck. Tail swaying behind him he crested the dune and looked down at the small snake that had been speared straight through by the staff. Was Anubis really 'sorry' that he had killed something? ... Nah! A feral grin came over his face as he watched the small sidewinder wiggle its last before slipping down the dune to collect what was his and leave the body for whatever wanted it. He had no real need to the carcass.
He walked pulled his staff from the snake and ambled away from it. Soon sitting his staff down and leaned it against his shoulder. Turning his head back to see if the femme had followed him, if she had maybe she would shy away from him now? Wishful thinking by one who didn't believe in wishes or the like. "Lunch if you want it, if not. Not my problem." He said roughly before picking up the staff once more and walked to crest yet another dune and sit down as if he had never really moved from his spot.

Nefertiti stared at the snake, which had been impaled and killed by the staff the Anubis creature had so quickly used and with such deadly accuracy.
If Nefertiti had been the scared type, she would have tucked tail and run at that. But she wasnt one to be easily pushed around, or bothered.
She had dealt with angry Whimsies who wanted nothing more than to destroy her and her name..Since she was something of a princess in her village.
But the snake made Nefertiti's stomach toss and turn, and she shook her head, unable to eat the snake that he had so easily, and with such brutal quickness, that Anubis had killed.
"No thanks..I had a big lunch.."
She couldnt bring her eyes off the snake, until she finally looked back into the hazey eyes of Anubis.
