Vanilla-Butter Sugar Cookies-Waldecker family recipe
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter softened (no substitutes)
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teapsoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
In mixing bowl combine sugar and butter: beat until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla: beat well. Stir together dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture until completely blended. Chill dough for 30 min-1 hour. On a lightly floured surface roll dough to a 1/4" thickness. Cut with cutters dipped in flour and transfer to an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 350 degrees F. for 10-12 min. or until lightly browned.
Makes 7 dozen 2 1/2" cookies
