just like how it ruined one piece, and naruto, and bleach, and death note...

Well, it's very possible some kinky fangirl will come up with some SuzakuxLelouch action, which would ruin it for me. But just because an anime has a huge fan base doesn't mean it's a bad anime. True, some of the elite otaku will start looking down on CG because of it's popularity, just like what happened with all the others mentioned above (Although Naruto and the western One Piece probably deserved it), but they are usually those nonconformists that think they are better than everyone else because they have those rare animes that no one knows about. Personally it's the show that really makes or breaks the show, and Code Geass will probably make it.

I believe you're looking for the word "unnecessarily" and I quite agree. Or you merely want to put something in your guild that isn't in the original.

In my opinion, the fanbase never ruins a show.
People start to dislike things because a lot of people like them, which is strange...

No, it is because we have people like those serious fans of naruto whom are so obsessed with the series they try to act like the characters in everyday life. That is what ruins an anime series.

That is what ruins an anime series. Ha! I love trying to hold a conversation with those people. You know how when an anime character is happy they talk with their eyes closed? In real life it makes the conversation awkward lol. But that's true, it does ruin it. I mean a little cosplay is fine but the whole "super fan" thing gets kind of creepy after a while.

[rant]Well, accually, it does ruin my fun and love for the show a bit. Not the anime itself, that remains awsome. But talking with people online about it. In this guild it hasn't really been a problem yet for me, because I can have nice, intelligent, discussions with some people who really think about characters and episodes.
But, sadly, when an anime gains popularity these days, there comes a whole mass of blind followers, who only like the show because it's popular. Those people may claim that they don't like it for that reason, but in reality they do.
I had conversations with a few of these followers...and they seriously annoyed me. When I asked that girl what her favorite charcter was she said Lelouch (no that's not the bad thing), and why? Because he was hot(ok, understandeble). But when I asked for more reasons she gave me nothing....really nothing. It's shallow, viewing the characters on appearances and one single trait. While one of the reasons why I like this show so much is because the charcters are so much more than that.
Also, most of those "mass fans" refuse to use proper english "i am not in skool, lol" is one I've heard alot. I'm not perfect with my grammer and spelling either, but at least I try (and english isn't even my first language... So I have an excuse XP). They are childish and can annoy the crap out of me. For the guild thing. I don't think it's needed to have so many CG guilds, not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but making a guild just to sqeal about how cute or awsome something is, without any intelligent conversation, isn't really worth the trouble of making a guild.... If you ask me. Of course, their are always exeptions, and not every fan who finds it through the mass is brainless, but there are quite a few out there, who just bring down the reputation of a show. (exsample: Naruto...just open the anime section in the forums and you'll be spammed with questions about who's hotter, Sasuke or Naruto) And I won't like to see the same thing as Naruto (wich isn't really a bad show, not great either, but it's ok...) happen to CG. [/rant]

That little statement made me burst out laughing. There already is SuzakuXLelouch stuff. Or LelouchXSuzaku, whichever you prefer. Along with LloydXSuzaku. And a whole bunch of stuff you don't want to see. I have friends who write some of that stuff too. Just saying ~ <3
Anyway, I don't think that CG will be brought down by the masses. I just think that it won't be so surprising and people will be flocking around you to talk. The fanbase doens't ruin the show, the blind followers who are completely obsessed to infinity will.
If an anime has a huge fanbase, it's an awesome anime (for the most part).
