Altair nodded, settling in and unconsciously relaxing a bit more. It wasn't that Helki made him uncomfortable, persay...quite the opposite. And yet, on some level, he felt as if he were being...judged. Simply by being in her sight. Odd.
Also odd that the thought would even occur to him. Normally, he liked being watched.
"Of course. It's not a long story, not if I give you the general version of it. We'll save the details for another day," he chuckled with a wink, taking a seat near Olivia. "I grew up here in the East. As beautiful as it was, however, I always wondered if there might not be something more out there. So, I set out wandering."
"My travels took me through many strange territories, however," he paused, staring at the horizon with a distant look. "While I saw many beautiful...and some not-so-beautiful things...I never felt quite at home anywhere else. And so, I returned to the East, not that long ago in fact. I'm set on staying here, I believe. There's plenty of beauty right here at home and I think I can continue my search for it without leaving the East again. It's much nicer here anyway," he finished with a smile.
"If you wanted a more specific answer, my dear, I'm afraid I don't have one. I haven't exactly settled in just yet. I've been re-familiarizing myself with the area and preparing to maybe start a pack of my own. If I find any others of like mind, of course."

She sighed and glanced back to where Helki had once stood several minutes before. She knew the goddess would not be there. She felt that Helki had been becoming more distant which was strange and yet not. Finally she looked to Altair. He was a colorful version of herself. Handsome, egotistical but then again, she was somewhat herself.
"So you've been beyond our borders? That must have been thrilling. I've not been out of this land..but then again...I was raised by Helki so..yeah...Speaking of which...my time with her is growing short...I'll need to find a pack to situate myself into....." Olivia murmured to him.

Altair listened in silence, being polite, but also curious. As soon as she trailed off, he glanced over with a frown.
'I'm...not sure I understand. What do you mean that time is growing short? Is she going somewhere or something?' Okay, so he wasn't the most sophisticated in his speech at the moment...but the peacock was honestly curious about this.
Still, the implication was obvious, at least to the Alpha. He smiled at Olivia invitingly. 'Well, as I said, I'm not going anywhere again for a while. Even if it's quiet around here, we could keep each other company.' He winked, still playing the part of the casual flirt, but...
...honestly? It would be nice to have someone around on a more permanent basis for company.
Didn't hurt that she was pretty and fun to talk to.

Olivia only gave him a small smile. "Gods and goddesses aren't known to be in packs...no matter the size. The the largest group would be a couple with or without pups. But otherwise then tend to be loners. I'm all grown up now. It's time for me to find a pack as I'm in truth.....crowding her...Though that's probably not how she feels..but I guess I just can't keep up with her anymore. She use to just carry me as a pup but yeah..I'm too big to carry," Olivia laughed at that. It was a rather bell like laugh. When her laugh died away she looked at Altair with bright eyes. "We are...well birds of a feather...." and then she gave him a brilliant smile.

Altair's chuckle joined Olivia's light laughter. She wasn't a flashy Helix...but she possessed such a simple, graceful sort of beauty. He smiled back, teasing lightly, 'No, certainly not a pup anymore, my dear. Far from it.'
Sliding to her side, he flared one wing before wrapping it around her. 'Indeed, we are. And if you'd like, you'd be more than welcome to stay with me when you decide to take your leave from Helki.'
Privately, he hoped it might be sooner rather than later, even if that was selfish.

Olivia looked up at him and she gave him another smile. She felt so plain around this gorgeous male, and a alpha too! But he was so nice to her. Helki was always cautious around males. Olivia never knew why.
"Well....I guess I can do so now.....Helki has been growing more and more distant from me. I don't think she'll mind that I've taken the initiative to move on myself."

Altair smiled at this, flexing his wing lightly in a sort of hugging gesture. 'It's not like you can't still visit. I'm sure she'll always be around somewhere if you want to see her. I get the feeling she'll be watching, even if you can't see her.'
After trailing off, the Alpha dared to lean in, nuzzling Olivia's neck fondly. He'd never admit it to anyone aloud...but he hated being alone. The thought that Olivia would stay with him in this new-yet-not-so-foreign land was both exciting and comforting.

Olivia smiled at him. "She does tend to blend in even though she's not...green," she laughed at this. She looked up at the world around them. The East was heavily wooded and there where parts were there was more bamboo than trees. It was wonderful being in such a thriving place full of wonder and beauty. A familiar essence greeted her and she realized that Helki was nearby and had always been despite her not being visible.
"Well look at that....she is here...there are no flowers here...but it smells like lilacs in bloom," Olivia murmured to Altair.

Altair lifted his muzzle, sniffing delicately at the air. He'd noticed the scent of flowers on the wind...but had apparently failed to notice the absence of the flowers themselves. It went a long way to show how distracted he'd been by Olivia herself.
'So I see...or at least notice, if you want to be literal,' he chuckled softly. He resisted the urge to look around, knowing that even if he looked, he'd never find Helki if she didn't want to be found. No sense in looking foolish.
