Alfonse continues to stare into the crystal rose around his neck, "It's not that anything happened between the two of us," He said, "We're just unable to reach each other. It was she who sent me this," He indicated the Yellow Crystal Rose and gold chain.

"I gave it to her for her and my thirteenth birthday," He said, "That was the first time I told Marrilice that I loved her."

"At any rate in place of what happened between us I should tell you what happened to us," He looked at the rose again, "It was on our eighteenth birthday that we were married, and murdered by the same man. I don't know if she truly died that day and also became a specter or if she somehow survived."

Alfonse took each question and turned them over in his mind before carefully answering, "We did grow up together for those five years. She and I met the night my older brother was nearly turned into a Nosferatu. She was a half-elf seeking refuge from an elven family who had disowned her for being of only half blood. She stayed with my family after that and, in fact, my older brother Morrow married her adoptive sister. As for the Five years between the Thirteenth birthday and our marriage on our eighteenth. They were hapy times, but not as happy as one might think. Being an Altar of the Maldrant family carried it's difficulties and dangers. Marrilice once confessed to me that she sometimes worried that I might come home one night in the same state Morrow had that first night she was at the house. There were no children. Though we both desired them we thought it best to wait until we had learned all we coud from my parents before attempting to teach children of our own."

Alfonse's features visibly darkened with the mood of the answers he was about to give, "The Man who murdered us was himself a specter but a very unique one. He was known as Kanaralous the Dark Prince and his soul, rather than dissipating, became a wraith contradicting the laws that govern wether a person becomes a specter or a wraith when they die. He killed us both out of misguided hatred for what I was to become," Alfonse held up his left arm and allowed the Shadow Rift, the weapon of the Ravenlord, to consume it, "The Ravenlord's power was power taken as a reprisal for the start of the war amongst the dark races of our world. The Ravenlord is it's vessel. Kanaralous believed he could regain the powers lost to his race if he killed me. Instead he gave rise to the very thing he despised most. As for which of us knew him, neither knew him personally but we both knew of him."

Alfonse looked to the crystal rose once more, "Marrilice asked that I not re-unite with her yet. That I can whenever I want simply by calling out to her spirit with the Rose, but she wants me to establish myself in this world first so that we can flee our home together. While the Ravenlord has duties to attend to in our home he can find his way there on his own well enough if only as a phantom. When we do reunite we will forge a new life together here if that is alright with all those concerned."

Alfonse shook his head at the Lady's suggestion, "I thank you for your concern but when the time comes Marrilice will be provided with a way through the veil. In addition I'm already plotting the arrival of my brother Morrow here," Alfonse smiled at some snipets of memory.

"I think he'd get along pretty well with Lord Guyy and the others," Alfonse paused, "Primarily because the way I always remember him is as a dark and yet easy-going person. I've wandered away from my point though. It's best not to spring two new faces on everyone at the same time. Plus I want to give Morrow some time to intigrate with the rest of the Clan so that I don't end up creating a Maldrant-family Clique."

"In a way there is more," Alfonse said, "Morrow, is not technically dead. His soul never passed into an afterlife. He was caught in the veil between dimmensions. To explain it simply the shadow rift, the weapon the Ravenlord uses on his left arm, pulls souls from a portion of the veil and uses their energy to create weapons. Morrow's soul was used to create Reaver. It's going to take some work, but there may be a way to pull Morrow out of the veil and ressurrect him here. The truth is that I don't even know for sure how it'll work exactly but Lady Aya said she would lend her aid and all I can do is trust."

((I hope that you don't mind that I assume this takes place after the earlier events in the Chimera village It would be odd to think it happened before since our characters first met there))

Alfonse nodded, "As you may know I myself have only possessed a shadow rift since the battle against that rather child-like character in the Chimera village. After that battle I sealed the Ravenlord inside myself so that I could learn to use his weapon as my own. The part of the veil that the Ravenlord's shadow rift was taken from contains souls from our world. There are a great many there because in my world different laws apply. There are no reapers there. Souls stay on the planet when they die or if the individual becomes a specter the soul's identity is transferred to the spirit and the soul itself becomes simply a point of energy. It's sort of difficult to explain. Essentially the creator of our world made humans where at first there had only been the dark and light races namely Vampires and Lycans of the dark and elves and sprites of the light. When humans were created the creator made them a light race. The four crows the goddesses who stayed in our world. Were angered that their sisters were given another race and they were not. Hence the creator placed a law int he world. When a human died if they were prepared for and accepted it their souls retained their identity and became Wraiths. If the person was not ready to die the souls identity leached into the spirit. The spirit then animated the body so that that person might live forever in his flesh body. The souls that were stripped of their identity were sent into the veil where they could exist and develope new identities. In the time when the four doves also existed in our world those souls who'd grown new identities were brought back into the world through thin points in the veil and turned into new human life." Alfonse paused to be sure that everything was understood to this point then continued, "I fear I have wandered off the subject. To say that the Shadow rift creates weapons from the souls in the veil isn't quite accurate. The Shadow rift examines that soul and discover's it's truest nature. The rift then utilizes it's own power rather than the soul to reflect that nature creating a shadow weapon." He shook his head sadly, "This is all I know at the moment."
