Well, at least in these debates in this thread, nobody is trying to rip anybody's throats out, so you can't really say anything is getting out of hand. Fuji also made a very valid point with his Dolphins and Eskimos thing.
I dunno, I don't have problems with random off-topic debates as long as it keeps people posting, and nobody gets hurt.
