Stay away from them? It should be quite easy.
Or...
Um...Take advantage of the terrain? First, sheep the lock and annihilate his pet, which shouldn't even be that mana-draining. Hopefully, if the lock doesn't have anything that can break cc, he'll stay a sheep long enough.
Hit him with a frostbolt, and what I'D do is quickly pull of a Fire Blast ( I don't know why I can't. Everyone says its a useless spell as a Frost Mage but it does heavy damage and it's an instant cast! ) Which both should take about 5-6k of his health, depending on the amount of +spell damage you have from gear. When the dots start to fly, Ice Barrier and Fire Ward ( Since Immolate is considered a fire damage spell ) but Fire Ward only if he manages to pull off a Immolate, which he shouldn't...
Counterspell him when you get the chance and pummel him with attacks. The second time he starts dotting you, quickly pop out Water Elemental then Ice Block, but don't stay in it too long. A smart person would try to bandage themselves while your in it. Then what I'd do is I'd freeze him, but use the Elemental's freeze first. Then if you were me, I wouldn't go for the shatter combo, I'd use Invisibilty and hide behind a wall or something that can LoS. The moment I hit it and I leave combat, Manna Biscuit for a few seconds, run out from my hiding place and just pummel him with everything I have.
But this is what I'D do. I don't care if someone else tells me its wrong, thats YOUR way. This is MY way.
>Try keeping Ice Barrier on at all times, without draining your mana.
>Take advantage of the surroundings.
>Why does no one ever think about Polymorph?
>Elemental BEFORE Ice Block, to maximize your DPS even while immobile.
>Use Invisibility to your advantage since if it works, gets you out of combat.
>If all else fails, respec deep Frost.
This was my old build.
