Mivu jumped from one rock to the next, playing 'Lava.' If you stepped or fell onto the ground, you got burned by hot, melted lava. If you didn't jump back on a rock fast enough, you were dead. It was a good game to play with siblings, but since he was the only one out exploring today, he had to play by himself.

Which was fine.

He nimbly landed onto a small rock and eyed the area around him. The only rock nearby was a big boulder, which was one of a good handful formed in a cluster. That was far away; he would have no choice but to step in the lava and run as fast as he could. Praying that he wouldn't die. Although, there was a plus to playing by yourself: you could always say you got to safety "just in time." And no one would know otherwise.

He prepared himself, wiggling his bottom and gathering strength in his hind legs for the pounce. The bigger jump he made, the farther away he landed, and the less lava he had to run across.
Bigger chance of surviving.

Benua'kifua didn't understand imagination. He hadn't had one as a cub and he certainly didn't have one now. Really, he didn't understand cubs at all. Why did they always have to be running around and loud and obnoxious and otherwise annoying? The ironic truth of the matter was that Ben had never actually had a close encounter with a cub. They had always been kept at a respectable distance, but that had been enough to convince him that that was what had to be. He couldn't be around cubs.

They were dirty.

Luckily, today was a relatively dry day but not dry enough that the dust was being whirled about by the wind. It was a perfectly clean day. Wandering the pridelands, the last thing that Ben wanted to run into to ruin his perfectly clean day was a cub, but that's exactly what he did.

Imagine his surprise when he came around a corner and a cub was flying at him from where it had, apparently, leapt off a rock. "Whoa!"

Mivu's eyes widened and he let out a yell right before he tackled the lion to the ground, passing the bigger male and rolling over and over until he was a bit of a distance away. His momentum carried him farther than he had ever gone. His paws pushed himself up to a sitting position and he shook his head with a groan; he must have hit something on his flight.

"Sorry," he said aloud to the other lion, ears lowered in apology. "Didn't mean to fly out at you; didn't think there was anyone there."

True; the lion had literally come out of nowhere. One moment there had been just Mivu and the rocks, but now there was a lion laying on the ground. Which spelled trouble if said lion wasn't as understanding as the cub hoped. Which was actually very likely. As friendly as most Pridelanders were, some didn't like particular families or ages or something.

If it were possible for Ben’s eyes to pop completely out of his skull, they had just then. The sudden appearance of a cub was only made worse when said cub had collided with him and caused his own unfortunate fall to the ground. Of course, it didn’t hurt, but it inevitably resulted in him being dirty! Sakes alive! He leapt to his paws as soon as he was no longer stunned, checking himself over before finding an offending scuff and busying himself with cleaning it away again.

No attention was afforded to the cub just yet. If there was one thing Ben wasn’t, it was generous. Oh, and I suppose forgiving. The cub had reiterated his belief that they were dirty, disgusting little things and he really didn’t care to meet another one. Still, his curiosity spurred him onward when the little beast spoke up, every bit of the miniature expressions of body language screaming his apology. Well, at least he was polite. That didn’t help Ben’s determination not to be interested, though. Against his better judgement, he sighed and nodded, “Apology accepted. You should look both ways before you, uh…” He glanced back at the rock the cub had apparently came from, “Fly.”

Typically, with adults, conversations were led by introductions, but he wasn’t completely sure what protocol called for when interacting with young ones. He settled for a confused look, one brow arched and lips slightly pursed as he stared at the thing. He didn’t look too dirty.

Phew. At least this lion wasn't mad at him.

Though it wasn't like Mivu couldn't handle situations on his own, if this lion was mad at the cub and knew his parents...that was a different story. One that Mivu didn't really feel like dealing with right now. So this was a stroke of good luck, at least. He gave the stranger a smirk.

"I'll remember that," he replied with a mock salute to his forehead with a paw. The dust from the ground was kind of wet, so it didn't stick to his coat as much as it would if it were dry. Politely stepping back a few steps, Mivu took the opportunity to shake himself clean again. Although he wasn't as keen on cleanliness as, say, his sister or mother. Girls. Why did they have to be so...girly?

"So, what're you doing here?" His voice was gruff, but held a small amount of respect that he deemed necessary for adults.

Girly girls were wonderful creatures. Girly cubs would quite possibly be the best thing imaginable in the mind of Benua'kifua. A cub who preferred to avoid getting dirty at all costs? That was his sort of little one; a good subject to practice his conversational skills on without worrying about the state of his pelt.

This cub, though, seemed spontaneous. Ben was worried when he might come flying through the air at the older lion again, muscles tensing in varying intensities each time the little cat moved. He wasn't so sure if he trusted this thing not to fling dust at him, and the sudden shake of the cub's coat made Ben cringe and lean backwards a bit, as if to avoid any floating offense.

"I'm... walking." He frowned, "Enjoying the day. What are you doing here, besides flying?"

Girls were no fun whatsoever. They didn't want to get dirty, they didn't want to play games. They didn't want to do anything. Except lay in the sun, or talk. And girls could talk so much. He was surprised that his mother and sisters hadn't made his ears fall off yet.

Mivu made another face when the older, bigger lion seemed to leap away from him in fear when the cub shook his coat off. What, was the bigger guy afraid of him? Or dust, or something? Weird.

"I'm enjoying the day, too," he repeated, puffing his chest out importantly. "I'm playing games while the sun is out. It's enjoyable. Where are you walking to?" And although he couldn't exactly promise that he wouldn't stop 'flying,' it sure was an appealing thought to know that he could, now.

He'd have to practice his jumps later.
