firstly what Nintendo are doing this generation is possible a gaming revolution and because of that the future is unpredictable and it might end tomorrow for them. Also Nintendo in the console market have never done well when face with competition and with them not leading the markets in such a long time they might not have the experience of SCE to keep the momentum.

Then we have Microsoft and there xbox 360. It's a good console, it has the games and the on-line but they seem awfully smug to me at the moment. Considering it been out a year longer than the ps3 it's only 6-7 million more xbox in the world over the ps3 and xbox live both gold and sliver isn't to far off the number of psn users. but my main point is microsoft keep saying they are going to finish second but i'd rather them go yes sony is catching us up and we are going to work harder to do the best we can.

I'm not realy rooting for a certain platform, but it does seem the way Sony has set up their networks and such, may overide the X-Box, but curently, if you are a big console player, the X-Box 360 is a great choice...but if you realy enjoy gaming, I would highly suggest PC gaming it has some of the best quality for gaming...only problem I have is the addiction...haha! I think Nintendo may change by next year...but the way this year looks, asuming you've seen E3...It does'nt seem bright for hardcore gamers...it's more of a casual gamers platform at the moment...

Firstly I didn't mention the PC because it's not a console, so it has no impact on the console war. Plus a good gaming rig is several times the price of any console.
And I said Nintendo was doing a gaming revolution and it might end for them tomorrow, meaning going to far into the casual market and forgetting the core gamers totally. We all know casual gamer don't buy much software and the wii is a weird console with it making more money from hardware than software. I also get the feeling that Nintendo are a bunch of wanker. They keep releasing new Peripherals, which you have to get to play there latest game. No console price drop since launch. Basically they think they are going to win, so they don't really need to do anything because the wii will sell it's self. that why i want them to finish 3rd

Microsoft seem smug with themselves to. So far at all the games convention they haven’t shown anything new, other than stuff they have copied of Sony or Nintendo. They keep saying they are going to finish second this generation. Considering they have been out a year longer than the ps3 there not that far ahead of them in console sales. They keep talking about how great Xbox live is. I have both and I don’t understand why I have to pay for live. I find that the psn is just as stable as xbox live I can find game just as fast as on xbox live, so why is xbox live better?

It's not realy better persay, it's just diffrent from PSN...

Well, I see what your saying, but perhaps Nintendo will pick there selves up before they fall too much. In my older days, they were a favorite of mine, I'm hoping they bring back some of that traditional gaming. Even though I enjoy the chaneles you can purchase with the classic marios and such... A revolution is a nice way to put it...

If I know microsoft, just from how they began, I'm sure they will get up and find something new...Well, not that sure, but hopefully they find some motivation, to actualy just say you're going to be second most likley, is like saying....we're good, we don't need to try too hard right now...

I think Nintendo have been in third so long, now they are First they might have lost the plot. Casual gaming is huge but Core gaming is several times bigger. And i can see if they don't release core and casual games that the ps3 and 360 will over take them in both hardware and software sales.

You say that about Microsoft but they are having massive cut backs on all there first party developers. Sony best games have come from there massive internal developers. So it possible sony might just win on that front.

Sony was going to win even before the war started
Sony has tech behind them, and many Blockbuster hits coming up soon with Xbox just trying to make themselves look more appealing (Xbox Avatars anybody?) The few first party games they do have just come out on the PC which is a much better gaming system than all the systems combined.

This fall for Sony we have
LittleBigPlanet
Resistance 2
Motorstorm 2
And others I can't think of right now......

Now Nintendo you can't really say is in the war because they're obviously not in it to compete they're here to make Nintendo games and they have many followers and fans (like me) who can't wait for the next big title of Zelda, or Mario, Metroid , and many others. Plus they have the Portable war in the bag. The main thing is they've already reached what they want there games to look like I mean you don't need Mario to look more realistic just smoother and slightly more cartoony. Zelda with Twilight Princess realism has been obtained refinement is the next step.

Now PC is on the outside of the war looking in because nothing can compete with the power of the PC, just look at Half-Life 2 and Crysis, no console game can compete (except maybe MGS4). Most if not all of the 360 library is composed of either crappy exclusives or good games that go to the PC (Halo, Gears, Bioshock). Not to mention the other exclusives that are on the PC itself. Also the PC is a major casual gamer place with games like the Sims 2 (and next sims 3) and Spore.

So in the end
Sony will win with its slow start and amazing library or First party games
Nintendo will stay because it has a strong fanbase of its games and characters
Microsoft due to building up to much momentum that it couldn't keep up with, it will crash and burn into the nearest wall.

I'm not sure how your reasoning on Microsoft's collision stands...can you further explain?

i find the pc weird only a very small number of pc can deal with the best games and they cost more than my ps3 and 360 combined and 2 hdtvs. And apart from RTS games the and massive online game i don't really see the pc having any other benefit than a console.

Half-life 2 was ported to the consoles and play just as well.
Crisis look really good but apart from that it sucks.

I think Nintendo have alienated that core gamer fanbase by focusing more and more on casual gaming. Nintendo themselves have said they are going to be few and few Zelda and Mario games. But the casual gaming market is more than enough for them to make money.

First-party games?
Last gen and at the start of this gen it was all about Third-party games, who ever won there would win the war. But ever since Microsoft this gen has better third-party support ps3 fan are going first-party games.

Truthfully, I don't think the console war has been decided one way or the other yet. Half the stuff they showed at E3 hasn't either come out yet or been implemented yet, so I think there's still a ways to go before the current balance shifts one way or the other.

Sony and Microsoft are working on buffing up the non-game aspects of their respective online communities, but neither is finished yet, and we won't truly see just which one wins until Sony releases Home and M.A.G.
I doubt Nintendo will win the online arena, as its flawed design and lack of interactive elements mean it fails in comparison to Sony and Microsoft.

As for actual gaming...Mm, again, we'll have to wait and see before we can really make any calls. All three systems have exclusive, popular titles coming out over the next year or so, and in that aspect, this console war won't be too different from last generation's.
