This concept made no sense to him, and he gave his little brother a odd look, half smile half frown of befuddlement. Catch more fish than him? What would that prove? It would be very bad; you catch what you can eat, no more. "Motsu, thats bad, very bad, killing for contest." Thili had said it wasn't right, that you had to respect what you killed. It was troubling that his brother didn't follow the same principles, Thili was wise and everyone should listen to him. About ready to prove his point by attacking his brother, pen him and make him understand, he was of set by his mother.
He had just gotten up from a nap, but obeyed without complaint. "Okay, Momma!" Trotting along besides his mother, he listened to the next challenge. It was his duty as the oldest to try and teach his siblings, he thought, so he bolted after his brother, intent on proving a point.
Senatla had stopped in her tracks when Sewelo had preceded to lecture his brother. Her son had spent a lot of time with Thili, and it was showing. While she didn't want to temper Motsu's joy, she couldn't help but agree with his frame of mind. Keeping on the sidelines, she'd let them handle it, seeing the growth in them was heartwarming. Finally, she started again, needing sorely to lay down and rest her leg so it could have a chance to heal.

Motsu hadn't listened to what Sewelo said, he rarely ever did. He acted like he knew everything, he sounded like Thili, and he didn't like to listen to him either. Besides, just catching fish didn't mean that you had to kill them. At least, that's what he added mentally. Then his brother was on his heels, and he was hard pressed into a sprint, tongue lolling. The dull ache in his paw returned, and he didn't make it far before he had to slow, limping into the den. "Ah-that's sore." He muttered, plopping down and panting, giving his paw a lick. "Ngh, you won." He said, now hot and out of breath from the race.

He did know a lot, after all, he was the older brother thus should. The lions that knew more were Momma and Thili, oh and Aunty Kamaria. He had one humble trait, he knew that he didn't know everthing, just was darn sure he knew what he knew. It was a great joy to beat his brother, not for beating but because he felt it taught him something. High stepping it, he even gave Motsu a warm nuzzle to the cheek and neck, forgiving him for thinking of killing the fish like that as a good idea.
Senatla got into the cool shade of the den and laid down, very carefully so her hurt leg was the one she was laying on, the wound facing up and not bothered by the sand. Laying her own head down, she looked to her cubs and let out a soft sigh.
