~*~ RULES ~*~
1. THE GAIA TOS MUST BE FOLLOWED!!!!! scream Any violation of such will result in an immediate blow with the B& Hammer.
2. FLAMING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. We respect other people's opinions here. Feel free to disagree with someone, but please be civil. Yes, you may have your taste in literature, but please let us have ours.
3. Be at least semi-literate. We're not going to attack you for the occasional typo, misspelling, or misuse of grammar, but please try to at least not be like Tara Gilespie.
4. You MUST introduce yourself in the introduction sticky. Nothing much, we just wanna know who you are and why you're here!
5. In the event of a troll (You know what I'm talking about. The person who posts nothing but misspelled OMG EDWRD IS SO HAWTT U GUYZ R JUST JELLIZ U CAN'T HAVE HIM!!!!! blather.), please follow our simple troll-handling procedure
1. DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!!!!!! Posting in an obvious troll thread will result in a two-week ban from the guild and repeated troll-feed posts will result in a permanent ban.
Trolls live and breathe any kind of response from their victims. I know this from experience. It's basic behvior reinforcement psychology. Trolls post to illicit a responce. Any response, no matter how simple, will reinforce a troll's behavior toward us, it will reinforce the trolling behavior toward everyone else, as well (or vice-versa, which ever you care more about). The absolute best way to kill a troll is to not reply to it, letting its post fall to the wayside.
2. PM me or any of the other mods immediately, and we will delete the sucker right away. If any of the mods fail to do so in a timely manner (provided that they're online. Sorry, but we can't do much if we're not on Gaia), they will be demoted.
3. If I'm not online and no other mod is online, either, try PMing me on MSN (which I'm always on if I'm at the computer) at hreed@knox.edu. I'll come take care of the problem.
4. If I or one of the mods can't be reached, be patient, and see rule #1.
6. There is no Rule 6.
7. Guild Führer CWnerd12 is the supreme iron-fisted overlord of the Anti-Twilight Guild, decider of what happens and doesn't happen, and ultimate judge of what behavior is acceptable and unacceptable here.
~*~ FAQ ~*~
1. OMG U BOOK SNOB IT'S JUST A BOOK WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO MEAN?!
It's one thing to be a poorly-written generic plotless vampire romance novel. There are plenty of those, and even a few good vampire novels. They make plenty of money, and they entertain, which we have nothing against. The issue we take with Twilight is the unhealthy anti-feminist message that it sends to young girls. The main "heroine" is constantly in danger yet cannot seem to save herself, and her whole sense of being is wrapped up in her sometimes abusive relationship with her boyfriend, and has absolutely no self or ambition outside of her boyfriend. We believe that the young girls and young women of today deserve better, and seek to celebrate and bring about more strong female heroines in literature.
2. Are you a bunch of rabid feminazis?
We're not here to push for post-partum abortion rights, create a man-free society, or to completely destroy love and romance. We simply believe that young girls should have better rolemodels than Bella Swan and should dream about men better than Edward Cullen.
3. Can boys join?
Of course! Boys hate Twilight, too, so why shouldn't they be able to join?
4. PSSSHT, I BET YOU CAN'T WRITE ANYTHING BETTER!
Personally, I have graduated from the Blake High School Magnet School for the Fine Arts with Master's Certification in Creative Writing. Basically, I went to high school and got to study writing for four years alongside it. I was the first Creative Writing student to win a national-level award from the prestigious National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts (NFAA) Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS) Award. I have written two books of poetry and recently completed a novel that I am seeking to get published. I identify myself first and formost as a writer and want to write for a living, which I firmly believe I have the tlent and dedication to do.
One of the purposes of this forum is to encourage writers on Gaia online. We want to create a little community where writers can come, share work, give and get constructive criticism, and build themselves into something better than Stephanie Meyer.
5. Okay, so what DO you like?
We like well-written books! Plots! Compelling, multi-dimensional characters! Prose that doesn't rape the thesaurus for adjectives! Although out primary subject here is to discuss literature with strong female main characters, we appreciate all kinds of good literature. The "actual literature" subforum is free to discuss any kind of novel, short story, or poetry, as long as it's good!
ALSO, RABID, UNCIVIL FANGIRLS WILL BE IMMORTALIZED IN THE HALL OF SHAME. NO EXCEPTIONS.
