I've been working on a Goddess sculpture and it's coming along fine (allthough sometimes her head falls off XD) but I'd also like to do something to represent God, because I agree with the whole balance concept; I'm not sure how I should shape it though. I have an artistic, older friend that could help me but I'd like to make sure I infuse my own energy without having to cleanse it and charge it afterwards (when I was cleansing and charging my stones, I ended up getting woozy and passed out cold). I need a shape somewhat easy to mold from clay.

Any advise, pictures...something?? XD

Hmm.. well it'd be cool if you made it like.. complementary to the Goddess sculpture. So, I'd say sculpt the God the way you see him, since you are doing the same thing with the Goddess.

This might sound like I'm just going along whatever my pagan books tell me, but I honestly to think He has antlers and is a goat from the waist down. I just think maybe it would be a bit difficult because these are my first two sculptures. Do you think I should go with what I thought He looked like when I was a child? It's kind of silly but I always thought He wore a white robe, was balding with wrinkles and liver spots. For some reason I thought he was asian and was persistantly standing with his hands in prayer position. It's simple but I don't really think He looks like that, anymore. XD
By the way, that was what I was planning to do. I was going to do a )O (but upright) but I wanted the sculptures to be equal.

I just had an idea! Do you think it would be okay if I used my figure (the one I'm already working with) for Esbats and made two 3D symbols [ )O( and )O {again, upright}]?? I'm just concerned about the balance and equality, you know? xp smile

*reads the whole conversation* Oh whew, I was about to go off on you for wanting to make a figure of the Christian/Catholic God. Not because it's a Wiccan Altar, but because He says outright to never make an idol statue of Him. sweatdrop If you're making a statue of the horned god, that's totally different.

For an altar sculpture, I'd recommend going with the present vision you have in your mind of how he looks. Otherwise you won't really think of the sculpture as being your god, and it won't be connected to him when you pray to it. 3nodding

I think both those ideas are cool. All the sculptures are there for is to help you connect with them/remind you of them, so yeah, I'd say the symbols would be cool, and then for esbats, using the sculpture of the Goddess you're already working on. I wouldn't see that as imbalanced. If you do decide to sculpt the God as well, though, I agree with kyrana, you should sculpt him as you envision him now.

I am a bit concerned.. How did you cleanse/charge your items that caused you to pass out?!?! There really is no need for this.. Especially with stones...

As far as a male God Statue goes - there are several male dieties that you can use. Look through Mythology books - pick a God that appeals to you and build it based on what YOUR idea of a male diety should look like. Your male diety does not have to be someone elses version. The Joy of the craft is its flexiblity.. Even a symbol of the Sun would be a male aspect of the God.
Pan would be the half goat diety that is menioned
Cerrinos (sp) is a Celtic version of Pan and is the one mentioned with the antlers..

I think the cleansing/charging just drained energy.
And is for the advise, thank you. n_n
