ugh...I hate teacher strikes...I suffered one when I was in college and when they got back I sat down in my seat, the teacher walked in and I just looked at her and went, "We better be getting our money now that you've cost us four days of our not easily earned money."
... ... She glared at me and the older people in class, the boeing lay-offs, agreed.
Ugh >.<
I've always had the inside look on teacher's, because my mom was PTSO for years. The teachers complain about not being able to live on their (already huge) salary, and say the quality of education is terrible. Some suckers (aka parents) believe this. But every time a teacher gets a raise, it effects students because that money has to come from somewhere - the programs, computers, and school supplies. I watched after-school programs jump from around $10 a semester, to over $100 a semester after a strike. Or more.
I've been to teacher's houses before. One of my most well-respected teachers had two houses. A big one in the backwoods of Woodinville, and a nice beach house in the San Juans.
I'm glad I'm done with all that s**t and politics. I hate public school teachers so much. If I ever have kids, they're being either homeschooled or going to a private Christian school. I may not be Christian, but the quality of education in those programs is 100x better than public.
