ugh...I hate teacher strikes...I suffered one when I was in college and when they got back I sat down in my seat, the teacher walked in and I just looked at her and went, "We better be getting our money now that you've cost us four days of our not easily earned money."

... ... She glared at me and the older people in class, the boeing lay-offs, agreed.

Ugh >.<

I've always had the inside look on teacher's, because my mom was PTSO for years. The teachers complain about not being able to live on their (already huge) salary, and say the quality of education is terrible. Some suckers (aka parents) believe this. But every time a teacher gets a raise, it effects students because that money has to come from somewhere - the programs, computers, and school supplies. I watched after-school programs jump from around $10 a semester, to over $100 a semester after a strike. Or more.

I've been to teacher's houses before. One of my most well-respected teachers had two houses. A big one in the backwoods of Woodinville, and a nice beach house in the San Juans.

I'm glad I'm done with all that s**t and politics. I hate public school teachers so much. If I ever have kids, they're being either homeschooled or going to a private Christian school. I may not be Christian, but the quality of education in those programs is 100x better than public.

That sounds like a good idea, -laughs- Honestly, going from home schooling to public schooling screwed me up...I was ahead of my grade level, so I ended up becoming dis-interested in going over the same material I already tested as having known...and well bad habits are hard to shake even when you get to new material.

Home Schooling is good idea...but someone would have to stay home to teach them is the problem...with our wonderful economy too...

Not necisarily, Im homeschooled and my Mom doesnt teach me anything
but morals...
The homeschool that is the legal way now must be done online.
It was an issue with parents teaching their children, because they wouldnt
fully teach them.
There are a LOT of homeschooling places now too.
Mine is www.cmacademy.org

Public school teachers gain their money from the school, and the school
gains their money from the state. When the state funds the school, they
look at the school's resident area and does a student count in that area.
And then the school gets a certain percent of the taxpayer's dollars
in acordance to how many students go there and how many residents
are around.

Example: The school that is closest to me is Kamiak High.
So then the state would count how many kids in Snohomish County goes
to that school, and the higher the amount of students, the more money
comes out of Snohomish County's State taxes.

It's not fair to the lower populated schools, but its the only way to get
money without needing a government grant or loan in order to simply
pay our teachers.
