I been hearing alot about what's Christian music and what's not. Although I haven't listened to alot of music I have listened to some bands who claim they are Christian bands but you don't hear anything at all about Christ in the lyrics. I don't questioin their faith, nor do I quesiton their intentions or if their following God or not. I do question whether they should be considered as Christian Rock, Rap, and whatnot. I'm actually curious to see what ya'lls defenition of Christian Music. I sometimes wonder if people label Christian Music as music that's clean and good to listen to. In my opinion I don't believe that's Christian Music. When I think of Christian Music or Christian Rock I think of songs that speak of Christ. (DC Talk for example) Some may argue that if it speaks of bible verses then they are a Christian Band. (For example P.O.D) But the only reason why you can't consider that as Christian music is because that would mean songs like Highway to Hell -AC/DC would be considered a Christian Metal song and in which in reality it's not even close. But anyway back to the topic, what do ya'll think about Christian Rock, Christian Rap and Christian Music in general? How do ya'll define what's Christian and what is of the world? What makes a Christian Rock band or rapper a Christian artist.

I say if they have any reference to God in any of their songs. They're Christian music

I think that to be a Christian band you should talk about God in your songs.
Although, i suppose everyone being christian and in a band could also be considered a "christian band" 'cause they are all christian...but, i still think that you should talk about God in your songs for it to be counted as an actual christian band.

This can be a very hard topic to describe. I wouldn't say that you have to be clear about what you're singing about in your music in order to be considered a Christian band. Look at underØATH, they're a Christian Screamo band and they're lyrics cans sometimes be extremely hard to interpret, however...
Timothy McTague of underØATH
“Our band has always been this Christian band and we’ve always been open about what we believe in, but there comes a certain point where a lot of the messages in our songs are very ambiguous. And that was so bold and straight up, talking about how we’re all people but without purpose we can feel lost."

Hence telling you this band is Christian, without any doubt. So I say it's up to the bad to decide if they are Christian or not, not up to the fans.

U2 talks a lot about God (in a good way) in their songs.
Are they a Christian band?
