User ImageThe sticky air matted the grey coat of a large male and made all but the chirping crickets silent. The male's eyes drooped but his ears were perked in search of the sound of running water. He needed SOMETHING too cool him off; anything to get rid of this disgusting feeling seeping to his bones.

As he broke through the trees and a cool breeze rolled off the rumbling ocean he sighed happily. The breeze felt so nice that he was momentarily rooted to the spot, watching the darkened night sky glisten with stars. The mood was full and gleaming in all it's glory this night, obviously unphased by the gruesome humidity.

He padded through the sand, his wings outstretched to direct the breeze towards his body. As he neared where the wave crashed and seperated land from ocean he paused for only a moment before wading to his mane in the water. It felt so nice that he let out a soft rumbling purr and closed his eyes.

It was a beautiful night. The stars were out and shining brightly, the waves from the ocean rolling up onto the beach serenely. Aine loved the beach, especially at night when the moon was full and the stars glittered brightly. Although the night wasn't as nice as she'd hoped it would be, the air was rather humid. The soft lioness didn't care much for humidity, she always felt sticky and uncomfortable in humid or muggy weather.

She welcomed the occassional breeze with open wings as she walked along the sandy beach, feeling the sand between her toes shift when she moved, her eyes closed pleasantly as she walked. Her eyes flickered open and she noticed something strange in the water that disrupted the waves and the reflection of the moon's light on the water. As she neared it she realized it was a lion, up to his mane in the water. Aine had felt very calm before, but now that she knew she wasn't alone her wings tucked close to her sides and her ears lay flat, her shy and timid nature coming up.

Maybe she could just walk on by without him noticing? He was facing the direction of the ocean anyways, he wouldn't be able to tell what was going on on the beach unless he turned around randomly or she made a noise loud enough for him to hear. Coincidentally as she was thinking this she failed to see a large piece of driftwood in her path that she managed to kick and trip over, letting out a surprised yelp as she fell over the other side and landed on her back. Oh dear...

Monochrome was careful with his wings and he let the waves roll over his body. The light of the moon made his eyelids white against his pupils, but it was sort of calming. Such a beautiful night to be in the water.

It wasn't until he heard a loud yelp that his eyes shot open and his head spun around to gawk at the female slightly. After a moment he spread his wings and with one powerful stroke he was out of the water. He swooped down and landed next to her, his sky blue eyes glowing with concern. "Are you okay miss?" He'd barely looked over her enough to see what she looked like, all he knew was that she was female and she'd taken a pretty bad fall.

How embarassing! The lioness thought with her eyes closed tight, hearing the male launch himself out of the water and come to her side. "Y-yes, I'm fine." She replied, thankful that her fur hid the light blush of embarassment. Aine opened her eyes to see the head of a dark figure over her, her heart skipping a beat. She scrambled to her paws, a little sand flying in different directions as she did so. Putting the paw that hit the driftwood into the sand sent a stabbing pain into it, stemming from the toes and going up to her ankle, causing her to wince in pain.

Aine tried to ignore it though, she wasn't alone and was now talking to a stranger. Lucky for her the moon was shining bright and illuminated the beach, allowing her to look at the male a little more closely. He was rather handsome she thought, a white mane, gray body and white swirled markings with dark gray wings tipped in white. The lioness cleared her throuat a bit, looking down at the sand before her. Introductions were bound to come up, she might as well be the one to start it. "My name's Aine."

He stumbled back slightly as she stood quickly and watched her. Suspicion clouded his eyes as she winced and he parted his jaw to ask her once again if she was okay, but her introduction came to fast.

"Oh. Lovely to meet you, Miss Aine." He smiled softly, bowing his head. "My name is Monochrome." He looked over her now, quite stunned by her beauty. He could just barely see the faded blue stripes on her creamy brown coat, but he could definitely tell she was quite a looker. He cleared his throat and averted his eyes, looking for something to keep him from staring.

"You should, er, be careful. You could get hurt."

He seems like a nice lion. Aine thought in response to his bow and the way he introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Monochrome." It seemed a fitting name, he was rather monochromatic with only two colors. He was still handsome though. The lioness gave a light laugh and a sheepish smile at the mention of hurting herself. "Yeah, well, I'm afraid I do that every now-and-then. I should really stop walking with my eyes closed." The sound of the waves caught her attention again and she looked out to the sea. "What were you doing out there?"

"That might help a little." He chuckled slightly. He watched her features as he emotions changed ever so slightly. She had such a beautiful face, very innocent.

He broke his eyes away when she asked her question, gazing out to where had been standing. The waves were no longer broken by his form and have taken back their original flow. "Erm... I was cooling down and watching the moon." He ran a paw through his mane as he glanced back at her casually. "The water makes the stickiness of my fur feel better on night like this."

Aine was surprised with herself at how easy it was beginning to get talking to the new male, he was friendly. She looked back at the gray and white lion when he began to speak some more. "Yes, the moon is always beautiful. I get lonely when it doesn't show, silly I know." The lioness said with a light giggle. "But yeah, I don't much like this humid weather either. Feeling sticky isn't my favorite pasttime, though I don't think I've tried swimming it off before." She shuffled her sparkly wings to try and feel more comfortable in her own skin because of the humidity.
