At his mentioning of the moon, Ossie turned her golden orbs to the sky. As she peered between the limbs and the leaves, she could see that he was absolutely right, the moon was hanging much lower than she thought... It was about time she got going, as much as she didn't want to admit it. Seeing him again... It was probably the best thing since Graduation. What was it she had heard a bard say once before? Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

That was what this seemed to be.

She met his apologetic gaze with her own and gave a nod, all the while trying to convince herself that her giddy feelings were not what they seemed to be. After all, a Mist and a Deep Woods, that just isn't how it is supposed to be.

Yet it felt so... Right.

"Sadly... Well, we'll see each other soon 'nough, right?" Though she didn't want to leave, she played it off the best she could and a shadow of a grin tugged at her beak edges.

"Of course," Holly answered, though he still wished that Ossie never had to leave again. But...such was life, and these feelings were causing him some surprising turmoil. As much as he hated to admit it, separation was probably going to be good for him. It'd give him a chance to get his feelings in order. He was probably just overexcited that he was seeing Ossie again, was all. It would be stupid of him to think the way he was thinking. Ossie was his friend. Nothing more.

Sighing softly at his own stupidity, Holly looked back at her and couldn't help but notice that he got the same rush again, even after the conclusion he had just come to. There was something amiss here; that much was certain. Shaking his head sadly, Holly sighed and gave her a sad smile. "If I go soon, I should be able to do a bit more hunting before sunup. Anything for the Clan." Smiling warmly, he leaned in and preened Ossie's eartuft once more. "And I'll see you when you're back. Meet me at the platform in seven moonrises?" he asked. "Or send me a message if you get back earlier. I'll be waiting."

He smiled at her and then shuffled a bit away, preening his wings and preparing to leave. Nonetheless, he lingered. The longer he spent with her, the better.

"Don't you worry! If that's the case, I'll have a messanger chirop headed right for you!" She replied cheerily as she gave her friend a final preening of his eartuft. Her own inner turmoil was pressing, but her feathers and her eyes did not betray this. Perhaps while she was busy scouting she would come to her senses...

"So, I'll see ya then! Ought to be some pretty turning by that time, eh?" It was more of a rhetorical question as she backed away from the male and began her own preening and stretching in preparation for flight. So much to do, so much to do. The night would be out before soon and the sun would be peaking over the canopy. She still needed to do more hunting of her own and a suitable spot needed to be found so she could rest for the day.

Yet she could hardly bring herself to leave, despite her pretty straight forward parting words. She glanced towards Holly one last time and observed the handsome male he had become, so well hidden due to his dye and the shadows that the trees played across them both.

She gave him a friendly nod and one final grin before finally summoning enough will power to push off the limb and start on her way.

"G'night, Ossie," he murmured, watching her leave and sitting quietly for a minute or two to just mull over what had happened. He still wasn't entirely sure, but something was definitely different between them. Not bad different. Just...different.

Maybe it was part of growing up.

With a soft sigh, Holly dropped from the branch and moved along the stream, returning to the Deep Woods quickly as he could. If he could get some more hunting done before dawn, he'd be doing quite well. And he wanted more than anything to be doing quite well. Success at a Task was representative of a Sentinel's character...and Holly wanted to be in good standing. Perhaps that'd mitigate some of what happened if he were to...

Thinking too much, Holly. He shook his head, laughed, and angled into the woods. There was still work to be done. There was always work to be done.
