Has anyone heard of it? You stick these beeswax cones in your ear and they're suppost to suck out all the wax or atleast melt the wax in your ear and take it up. I've tried it before and it worked for me but the process is semi-contraversial. Some scientists say that it's impossible for it to create a vacuum that wouldn't hurt the ear drum. If you aren't carefull, you could also burn yourself. Although following the correct procedure helps. Anyways, here's a site that has some info on ear candling: BeesWaxEarCandles.comYou can usually find these at your local organic market too. It's not a gaurranteed method or a 'medical substitute' for ear treatment but it's quite interresting. Has anyone else heard of/used ear candles before?

I've also heard that the "stuff" people think they are getting from their ears is just the process of the beeswax melting and then hardening back up with all the propolis and other stuff in the beeswax showing through.
Would be interesting to hear from someone who's tried it.

Plus the beeswax is more on the outside of the ear candles than inside. The amount of wax that's in the candle varies too. Sometimes you'll get little to non and sometimes you will get a ton! surprised It works for some people but for others it might cause ear pain so ya gotta be careful.

about 6 years ago my sister showed us this, and we've done it at east once every couple months ^^
When we first did it, at the end we cut it open and there was yellow/brown crap in it =X It was quite disgusting to think that came from my ear.
Once we did it and my friend was there, so he wanted to, he was freaking out, like 'Don't let hte fire get in my ear!' hehe xd
No one ive tried it on has ever gotten ear pain, so i suppose we're lucky :O

(I can't win...My head hurts when it's not removed gonk ) I did freak out at first telling my mom not to set my ears on fire...or hair... but everything seemed to work.

Whoa, I've never heard of that before. I'd be very reluctant to try it because I've had an insane number of earaches, especially as a child, and I have very sensitive ears. Then again, earaches are said to be caused by wax buildup, so it may be just the thing that I need, lol.
I read through the website and I'm a little confused about how it works..

I've tried it. I like the feel of it, but it takes a long time. When you cut the candle open, you do have a lot of candle particulate that some believe is ear wax and then darker stuff that is the actual ear wax. Technically, it's illegal to sell ear candles in Canada, but you can find them in health food stores. A better alternative I've found is mineral oil. I normally go to sleep with it once a week. I'll get an old towel and sleep on that and put the oil in one ear. I sleep on my side so it works fine for me. I might turn over to the other side during the night and then all the oil and gunk runs out on the towel. *yum*. I love the warm feeling and it blocks out all sounds - even my boyfriends snoring. Plus, it doesn't dry out the canals. Mineral oil, as well other ear cleaning liquids are the preferred way due to the shape of the ear canal. It narrows and then gets bigger at the ear drum - so sticking stuff in your ear can push stuff into that bigger part and put pressure on your ear drum. :3 http://bchealthguide.org/kbase/topic/symptom/earwx/overview.htm

Im thinking about trying this, have you done it plenty of times? This idea makes me a little paranoid XD

One of my roommates actually used to make and sell his own ear candles. His mom, who sells organic stuff and stuff, visited the house during the summer and had extra ear candles so I tried it out. It was actually extremely awkward and intriguing at the same time because, while the candles were burning, she played some crazy tribal music and was talking endlessly about her spiritual beliefs.
All the roommates and a visiting friend in the house gathered together to listen to her preach about the spiritual effects of ear candles.... which turned into preaching about the 11 dimensions of the universe... all while I was lying on a table with her holding the ear candle upright. At some point in time the pillow actually caught on fire too. It was a bizarre experience, that's all I remember lol.
She left me some extra ear candles, so I guess I need to try it again. Without tribal music, lol.

It seems like an odd thing to do, really. If you find it benefits you that's awesome, but I don't think I'd try it. I don't like letting fire near my hair, and my ears are fine as is.
Plus, I've heard that if you do the candling thing in someone's ear, and then have another ear candle just burning by itself, after you open them they'll both have the 'ear wax' substance inside. I haven't tried it or anything, but it's what I've heard.
