I was a very small girl when I saw my first ghost. I still don't know if I was dreaming it or not, but I watched something opaque rise at the foot of my bed and I remember screaming. I remember calling it a "smoke ghost" because it was greyscale and opaque. I also remember my father having to check my room every night before I went to bed for more ghosts.

After that, things stayed quiet until I was 12 and thirteen. That's when things got really weird. Electronics in the house would just shut themselves off, for no reason. It may have been faulty wiring in an old TV and lamp, but it didn't explain the rest. I woke up one night hearing a strange noise, and after searching discovered that my walkman (this was way back in '97) had turned itself on, switched itself over to radio, and tuned out the station I had kept it set to. The walkman hadn't been touched in days, I am an only child and have no history of sleep walking.

I also started hearing things. Tappings and drippings that had no source, my father and I both started hearing our names called when there was no one there. One night, as I lay awake in bed, I thought I was listening to a rodeo on the TV int he living room, but when I got up, still hearing the noise, the TV wasn't on. I then started to remember the voices, a man and woman, I used to hear as a small child. Sometimes the spoke English, and other times French.

Things stayed weird, and when I started to hear children I wasn't as surprised as I could be. The first was a small girl, talking to a doll in my room in the wee hours. The harder I listened, the fainter she became. Then there were the children laughing in the basement. Needless to say, there were no children present for either incident.

Then I went off to university. In my first year, I had an incident where when I was attempting some crystal gazing I saw huge insects crawling in my peripheral vision: gigantic flies and millipedes. I continued to hear things, although with less frequency. I often caught glimpses of movement out of the corner of my eyes and saw my second ghost, a beaded man standing in the door way at the veterinary clinic my mother worked for. It was part of a small business complex, relatively new, and had never been a clinic of any sort until early '97.

I spent three years in residence and then moved into a house with two room mates. During the summer while I was alone in the house, there was a low, guttural chanting coming from one room mate's empty room. Again I would swear there was a TV on when there was none, and a salt shaker actually flew off the back of the stove one night when I was attempting a cleansing. My other room mate noticed an unpleasant feeling in the house and claims to have seen our spirit, who identified himself once as "Cain". I remember that for a long while, incense smoke used to curl and take the shape of tortured human forms, writhing as the smoke rose, or screaming faces. It was pretty freaky, to say the least. After two years there, I moved three provinces away to do another degree, and kept hearing things. And now I'm home and it's beginning to escalate again already.

Now, the odds are highly against me having lived in four haunted locations over the past 24, almost 25 years. What it's leading me to conclude is that perhaps it's not the houses, but me. That I'm somehow attracting spirits that then manifest to me.

Does anyone else have any thoughts? Besides that I'm probably crazy, because I couldn't make this stuff up if I wanted to!

I have done some research, and the only location that seems to have any history of activity was my dorm. Then again, it's hard to tell how much of that is factual and how much of it is the usual university hype. Kind of like in Harry Potter, my dorm has its own ghost that many residents have reported seeing or experiencing over the years since the dorm ceased being a convent. As for the houses, there's nothing. Just typical houses built during the mid 1940's after WWII. The land was cleared, but had no documented history.

It may be possible I'm drawing them from the surrounding area; I was once told that in psychic terms I act like a beacon for spirits. There's something about me that draws them in and makes me more receptive to them. It's just struck me as strange to have so many experiences.

This thread is old... Oh well.. xD I don't believe in people being haunted? You could be followed, spirits could be more attracted to you. Think about this though...
about how many people have died.. Do you think that there are only certain places that are haunted? I want to think that spirits are nearly everywhere. From what
I have been told, though... they are more attracted to sickly people, bipolar people, and people with ADD or ADHD. I'm sixteen and so far... I've lived in at least
nine diffrent places. All of those places are haunted.
