"I've helped fer years. Starts with small stuff." He shrugged. "I'm nine." He said in response to her question. "With tha many kids, mah parents have to have us help. Truth be told, I'm tired of it. Don't get to play when ya gotta help with the little uns."

"Truly? I would have thought that, with younger children, they'd always look for playmates. Especially in their caretakers." She certainly had had the propensity for begging Eros to play hide-and-seek in her dreams during her youth. "That must be such a shame." She clucked her tongue, almost matronly and offered the container again. "Another cookie?"

Keahi gave a shrug. "We played some, but it seemed someone always needed a diaper change or a change of clothes, or needed a nap." Such was life growing up in a rather large, and a bit chaotic, house. He smiled, though, as she offered the container. Taking a cookie, he thanked Shiri.

"You're welcome." She pulled the container back to balance on her knee. "Still, such is life, and it's what we've got as our lot, right? I'm sure there are good points about it."
Eros gave a small chuckle. 'Ever the positive thinker, Shiri.'
Shiri brightened, having missed his voice for the past conversation. Not that Keahi was a bad companion, but simply because its absence made her head resound with silence. "So....Do you play?" She asked, such an abrupt change of subject that it surprised even herself.
'Shiri....' Eros's voice was now replete with warning.

Keahi shrugged. "Suppose so." He was sure there were pluses to growing up in a large family. He just happened to see more of the negatives. At the girl's question, he didn't answer right away. But she'd been so nice, that he smiled and nodded. "You do too, right?"

Shiri smiled lightly. "Yes." She answered, prompting a wearied sigh from Eros. "Any chance you'd like to share?" Without waiting for an answer, she continued indulging her curiosity. "Who's your god? How did you start playing? Have you met the other godlings? How about Persy? Have you met her? What's your god like?" She paused for a bit of a breath and Eros took the opportunity to speak.
'Shiri, I doubt he will want to answer so many questions at one time.' He seemed resigned to her essentially ignoring his good advice, and resolved to be as helpful as possible. Amusement softened his words. 'Honestly, I would have thought that your past experiences in interviews of life stories had taught you some finesse!'
Shiri managed to look slightly abashed. "Well...whatever you feel comfortable enough to tell me...." She took another cookie, settling in for what was hopefully a bit of a tale.

Keahi blinked at the sudden barrage of questions and grinned. "His name's Honu'aumakua. I don't know much about him, but he's a turtle and sounds like my grandfather." The boy grinned at that. It'd been a bit startling at first, but not the sound was just comforting. "I just started and you're the first godling I've met." The boy probably would've rambled on more if he hadn't been interrupted by his god.
"Keahi! Remember what Persy said? Information's important in this game."

Shiri tilted her head. "Something wrong?" She asked. If she was capable of being worried, this would have been the extent of her showing it. She decided to go on anyway. Keahi didn't seem to be greatly distressed, and it would be rude to not offer information about herself. "I'm Eros's godling." She couldn't help the girlish giggle and slight flush that came to her face, characteristic of a young girl thinking on her first love. "You're actually the second godling I've had the pleasure of meeting. I don't play very much at all. Eros finds the whole contest a bit absurd."
Eros, for his part, was silent, unable or unwilling to stop his godling from speaking. It wasn't like she bore the knowledge of some great dark secret that could get him thrown out of the Game or anything....

Keahi gave a shrug. "Just... nah used tah this." He gestured to his head. "The whole them talkin' tah you. Still frightens me a bit when he starts talkin' out of nowhere..." The boy grinned a bit. "Really? So why're you playin' then?" From his understanding of the Game, the gods had players to represent them and win, right? What would be the point of having a player if you didn't want to win?

Shiri opened her mouth before stopping. She suddenly realized that she didn't really know why he was playing after all. "I....I dunno...." She shrugged. "It never overly mattered much to me." Her voice was suddenly contemplative. "I don't really play at all. We're just...together."
Eros's voice contained the slightest edge to it, like a silk-covered razor, as he murmured, 'Shiri, I believe it best to leave now. We should go home before it becomes to late.'
Shiri frowned at him, but said nothing.

Keahi didn't understand. They didn't really play? Well... how did you do that? And why? His thinking was interrupted by Honu'aumakua.
"You should probably leave... I'm sure Eros has his reasoning and we don't want to annoy him."
Keahi sighed. "I should probably get home before mah mom misses me too much. She doesn' mind me wanderin' about, unless I don' do mah chores..." He started to leave, then turned back for a moment. "Thanks for tha cookies. They were really good." He smiled and turned away once again.
