Behold, Capitain Nemo's Thumbdrive:

(please let me know if the images are stretching the page; I'd be happy to link offsite instead, if that's nessicary.)
Materials:
1 2G Sony thumbdrive
1 cheap clock (torn apart for the gear)
1 strip of brass (1/4" wide, approx 1/32" thick)
1 strip of aluminum (3/4" wide, very thin - maybe 1/64")
3 brass colored paper fasteners (4 if you count the one I killed)
black nailpolish
gold nailpolish
embroidery floss
The black portion of the thumbdrive is meant to look like cast-iron, although it turned out a little too shiny. If anyone knows how to improve the texture/finish, please let me know.
The rest, I think, is fairly self explanatory.
I was thinking of trying to dress up the back a little bit with a manufacturer's label (IE:
Quote:
PATENTED
Sony & Sons inc.
est. 1829
Sony & Sons inc.

with some nice victorian flourishes and such). I've tried at a label a few times, and will definately have to try a few times more before I get one of sufficient quality. The label will be (if there is one) approximately 1/2"x3/8" and naturally, writing that small and making it look like an old fashioned type face is just a wee bit challenging, although my last few tries have gotten a little better.
