Day One

It was always the same every year. Packed streets, lively music, street performances and vendors selling everything and anything. The Carnival of Ending. Liere's circus troupe 'Cirque de la Lune' was one of the five main troupes to organize such a big event. Thus, Liere was included in the main showcase and the parade. The young elf had brought along his new partner, Ovid to enjoy the festivities. But he had never known himself to be this nervous before.

They had arrived the day before and taken a look around. Liere had gone with his father to go over the final performance with the other troupe masters. It was complex and exciting, the type of unforgettable performance magic. He couldn't wait to discuss it with the rest of the troupe after practice, though he had gotten back and fallen straight asleep with Ovid. This was another reason he was excited, he was going to give the other a weekend he'd never forget.

He clutched the balancing ball tightly beneath him, putting pressure on it as he lifted his legs above his head in practice. Hand-standing on the ball was easy enough with lots of ground around him. But this year, he'd be doing it on a podium the stilt-walkers would be holding as they marched. He rolled the ball to the side when he felt his balance tipping. It was early morning still, so the first day had yet to fully start, but already people were arriving and vendors were selling.

The troupe had their circus tent and gypsy-carriages set up on a field on a rise above the town and Liere gently let himself down from the handstand, plopping to sit on the ground with the ball between his outstretched legs as he gazed down at the town. He loved the carnival.

He could already see the main stage being set up in the square and flyers, streamers and other street decoration laced between the town buildings. The ships were flying bright colours, signifying the harbour was still a part of this great celebration, even with it's coming and going traffic. Everyone knew and everyone was excited.

It was strange to be this nervous so .. late in to things, Ovid mused quietly, lifting his head to study the flurry of lights and noise that was already stirring around outside. The fluffy, cotton-candy pink faun sighed, hooves clattering on the wooden floor of the carriage he'd slept in the night prior. The dark cheeks flushed pleasantly of the memory of curling up with the elf performer still fresh in his mind - garnished with the less viewer friendly images of his dreams.

Ovid giggled faintly, shaking his head before moving to stand, the slender tail swaying happily behind himself as he descended the stairs to exit the portable bedroom. One hand lifted, lightly scratching at his ear before moving to seek out Liere - smiling faintly at the buzz of activity around himself as a content, happy noise formed in his throat. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, he was glad to see - eyes scanning the surrounding area before lighting on his bedmate.

"Liere~" He called, pace speeding slightly as he moved to wrap his arms around the performer from behind, a soft, happy bleat escaping him as he nestled his face against the elf's dark hair, eyes sliding to a close and tail swishing happily. "There you are," he sighed happily. He was looking forward to all of this. <3

Liere had left Ovid to sleep, since his father had requested he practice as much as possible. He had just been about to get back on the balancing ball when he heard a voice he'd been hoping for for a while now. Ovid was awake!
"Ovi~" Liere greeted when Ovid took him into his arms, happily cuddling back against the other. Ovid was half the reason this carnival was going to be so fun!

He giggled at the bleat, yawning softly as he kicked the ball away, watching it bounce a few feet away before it tapped against the side of a pitched, colourful tent. "Here I am~ Did you sleep well?" Liere asked, still in his bedclothes at this point. He had to change soon. "We can go exploring soon! Dad said I don't need to be around until the evening shows~" He felt a mounting excitement at the though of showing off his talent to Ovid, though so far all he was focusing on at the moment was one handed balancing. He turned slightly and nuzzled a kiss to the underside of Ovid's chin, sighing happily.

"Mm, really?" The question was absent minded and insubstantial, the pink male melting into the soft touches with a soft, content sound. "That's good," he continued, fingertips tracing tiny circles into the fabric of the performer's pajamas, pressing them lightly to the curve of his back. He paused, blue eyes opening slowly as he forced himself to pull back with a slight shake of his head, tail tip flicking absently. "What about practice? Do you not need to?" He sighed, glancing up to follow where the balance ball had rolled to, brow furrowing slightly.

He didn't want to take up time Liere needed for the show - like some attention starved, fluffy pink leech. He'd feel terrible, and the rest of the circus troupe would end up hating him, and... His ears and tail sank, lips pulling into a frown and eyes closing. "..I-I'll be fine if you need the time to work on things for the performance..."

"Yes! I'm going to buy you lots and lots of trinkets and some nice tea they sell here, it's mint and jasmine or something....Oh! and they have flowering tea too! From the Butterfly Kingdom!" Liere said, eyes shining in a way that a child's would if he was presented with an entire toy factory to look around in and play. He was so very excited about showing Ovid one of the more extravagant parts of his life. He cuddled against the other, shifting to comfortably sit in his lap as he daintily ran soft fingertips over the shells of Ovid's ear, sleepily amusing himself. "Practice? Oh I can get that in later, I've just gotten 30 minutes in now...so I only have a little more to do before the main practice tonight." Liere said, frowning at the look on Ovid's face. Was that a depressed look...?

"Ovi..." He murmured in a voice full of comfort, leaning up to sweetly press a tender kiss to the Faun's lips. He had to be comforting, because this carnival was all about fun! He parted their lips and stared at the Faun, smiling a little as he gently brushed fingers down his left cheek. "This is our time together, don't worry. We're ahead of schedule.
