Quin knew that feeling too... of still being stuck in the moment in some ways, back in those days, in that time, not really able to move past it. Of wanting to know why, why something like that would happen, why his father had turned around and become such a... monster. Meeting his mother again, he was convinced that she hadn't known Kairn would become that thing. His father had hidden his true colors until it was too late for her to get away. For any of them to get away, really. Endless had just gotten lucky that Kairn had found out about their plans to run away after he'd actually gotten away.
Then again, hearing about what his brother had been through afterward... maybe Endless hadn't been so lucky after all.
There was still a big ball of hurt and anger buried inside Quin at Kairn and what his father had done. Sometimes he thought it was a shame Kairn could only die once... and almost immediately he was also ashamed. That wasn't the sort of person he wanted to be.
Quin's ears flicked, one and then the other and over again, until he finally offered Raven an almost bashful smile. "Well... maybe when you're ready to go see them I'll go with you?" They'd just met but... well, maybe they could be friends and support one another. It seemed to be helping a bit so far.
When she finally smiled, really smiled, it made Quin feel warm and fuzzy inside. That was the only real label he could give the feeling, as silly as it was. He smiled right back. "Well, if anyone tries to get you while I'm around, they'll have to go through me... and I'm a pretty big roadblock." He put his head back down, still smiling, and wagged his big floofy tails. "I try to be a good protector... my sister would tell you all about it, if she was here, I'm sure. I'd almost bet she's taking a nap about now, though."

Raven knew there was more that Quin wasnt telling her, and she knew that maybe in time, once their friendship grew, he might. And if, or when that day came, she would be there for him, as he was there for her now. Maybe not as much as he knew, but he was. She felt safe with him, and that was something very rare indeed.
And then, he offered to go with her. "Really? My sisters...are a handfull." she said with a crooked smile. "And there's four of them. Hopefully it wont be a full-blown family reunion, that would get colorful" she said with a light chuckle.
Her smile, stayed. "Well, i think you're a wonderful roadblock, and you're sister is very lucky. " she said with a bright smile, her tails swaying softly.
"Do you want to go for a walk? My leg is falling asleep" she said with a light chuckle, and a shake of her sleeping leg.

Quin was unbelievably relieved that Raven had relaxed in his presense. For someone to be uncomfortable, or even worse to be fearful of him... made him feel horrible. For someone to be afraid of him who had done nothing to him only made him compare himself to his father, and that brought up any number of issues, none of them pleasant.
She seemed suprised that he'd offered to go with her, and why not? They'd known eachother for like ten minutes. Still... it made him feel more like himself to be able to offer support, comfort, and protection to someone. He needed to be able to do that for someone as much as she seemed to need someone who was willing to do so.
"Colorful? I dunno, could they possibly any more colorful than we are?" He knew it wasn't what she meant, but he couldn't help peering back at his pelt and pretending to be confused. His silly jokes had always seemed to help keep Celeste in a good mood, so he was willing to see if they'd work for Raven too.
"A walk? Oh, sure." Quin got his feet back under him and stood up, perhaps a bit more slowly than he had to but... for as big as he looked when he was laying down, he seemed a lot bigger standing, and he didn't want to accidentally give Raven a start. "Though, uh, I'll have to follow you. For all we first got to this area last winter, Celeste and I didn't go out much, just sorta layed low until we happened to run into someone who knew our brother and we found out he and mom were all right..."
It was certainly obvious that there was a lot more to his story, and his family's, than he was saying now. But he didn't seem to be quite ready to go into any of it. Instead, he changed the subject back to Raven's family. "So... four sisters? Wow. Is that from two litters?" He'd gotten the feeling they were all the same age for some reason... but he'd never really heard of that many kits coming from one litter before.

Raven, might have been apprehensive at first, but now that she'd talked to Quin, she found it incredibly difficult to be frightened. He was big yes, and fluffy. But she felt like she could see who he was, inside. She knew he wouldnt harm her. She gave a light smile. She needed Quin. After everything thats happened in her recent past, she needed someone like Quin. Someone who she could feel safe with. And she felt safe with Quin. Which in turn, made her feel more like her old self, before the incident. She was shy then, but with an adventurous quirky side. A side that hasnt shown itself in a long time. She liked the feeling.
It was a silly joke. It was random, and slightly unexpected. And it made her laugh. Raven looked at Quin for a few moments, blinking, until finally she started to giggle, and then laugh. "We're perfect to represent the rainbow" she said after she'd finished giggling.
Raven nodded at having to lead the way, she tilted her head. "I hardly ever have a destination in mind..." she said looking up at Quin. Her head came up to around his shoulders, just below. She was a petite female, she took after her father. Which made her an easy target. She smiled up at him, and then looked back ahead, leading the way. "When i was growing up, i used to just...walk. And let my feet lead the way. I never had anywhere in particular i just....went." her ears sagged lightly, and a shudder coursed through her petite frame. "I havent done that, in a long time" it was added softly. She'd come a ways since the attack, but she still had a long ways to go.

Quin was very glad to hear her laugh and joined in with a grin and quiet chuckle before moving along just behind her and a bit off to the side. "Well... we might be missing a couple of colors, but we're pretty close."
Walk... to just... walk? As much as the basic description sounded a lot like what he'd been doing just a few minutes before meeting Raven he knew it was different. He'd been wandering lost, confused, and purposeless. He had a feeling that the wanderings she'd used to do may have been aimless, but were done for the sake of enjoyment and simply seeing what there was to see. Kind of like Endless went out to do on an almost nightly basis...
It was the sort of thing Quin had wished he had the freedom to do when he was younger, but it was a passing fancy long since put aside in favor of the things he had to do in order to keep himself and his sister safe and well. But he had that freedom now, didn't he?
"Why don't we... just walk today?" It was a slightly nervous, and slightly hopeful tone. "I mean, as long as we don't wander too far, we can be back before dark and all. I wouldn't want to make my mom and my sister worry, but..." He frowned slightly, wavering between resolute and indecisive. "We're together, so it's not likely something will happen, and it doesn't seem like we have anywhere in particular to go anyway..."

Raven couldnt help but smile. "I think we cover enough of the rainbow, to count" she said with a light grin beneath her painted face.
Quin was right. She used to walk just to see what there was. She grew up, hearing the stories from her sisters, of the adventures they had, of the sights they saw. Even as a young pup, she had always been shy, and withdrawn. Unlike her adventurous sisters. And part of her, had always wanted to explore, to see what the world held. The stories her father told her, only helped fuel her curiosity. Unfortuneately, she never had a chance to explore, too see for herself, what the world held for her. But now, with Quin as a friend, by her side, she just might have that chance again. Perhaps.
Minutes passed, while Raven was lost in her silent reprieve, she'd almost forgotten Quin was by her side. Shaking her head, her short black locks scattered, some getting tangled around her tiny horns. She didnt pay them any mind. "Sorry, lost in thought" she said with a tiny smile.
Raven nodded "Sure, that sounds great. Do you have anywhere in particular you'd like to go, or anything you'd like to see? I have no prefrences really." she looked up, and saw the familiar crow, fluttering around "I myself have all night if i wish. Help is always close by these days. My family over compensates with protection" she gave another small smile. Part of her was glad, another part, wasnt sure how she felt about that. She would never be alone. Which eased her, but it also set fire to a small part of her, that strove for independence.

Quin grinned a bit at Raven's return about the rainbow, an expression which slowly faded to that of quiet curiosity as he sat and watched her think. Part of him wondered what went on behind that painted face, and part of him berated himself for wanting to stick himself that far into someone else's privacy.
He shrugged when she apologized and smiled again, eyes trailing around the area with a thoughtful air. "Nowhere in particular... not really. Just sort of seeing the sights I guess. I really don't know the area very well." His smile turned a bit sheepish and he shrugged. "I was too busy looking after Celeste before to bother with exploring..."

Raven chuckled softly "its ok, we can explore together" she said offering a gentle smile. She headed off in no particular direction, away from the pond, and along the treeline. Without really knowing it, she was walking closer to Quin, and glanced over her shoulder every now and again, trying to see through the tree's.
"I havent really been out too much since...the attack. I've hardly felt like myself. When i catch my reflection, i wonder frequently, who it is looking back at me. Its me, but its not me...its a ghost.." She shook her head, realizing she had started rambling again. "I'm sorry. I was rambling again. My brain seems to shoot off in random directions, and most of the time my mouth follows" Raven gave a quick apologetic smile.

Quin walked along quietly beside Raven, making no commentary about her skittish behavior. To be honest if Celeste was with him he'd probably have been acting much the same. He actually slipped into a modicrum of his old habit and started watching the trees on his side a bit, just to be sure.
"Something like that... steals a piece of you. Sometimes you can get it back, or rebuild it, but it takes time. Everyone has their own speed for that sort of thing." He grin-grimmaced a bit. "At least you have a feeling for who you're trying to go back to being." He'd been in his situation for almost as long as he could remember. They were so young when Kairn went over the edge... now that he thought about it, Quin didn't have any idea who he was supposed to be, or even who he wanted to be, now that he had the chance to move out from under the shadows that had so long covered his life. It was troubling, and he frowned.

Raven was always looking over her shoulder. Pysically and mentally. She gave a sigh, and her whole body seemed to sag. She carried a great burden with her, and sometimes it showed in her features, if you looked close enough. Raven nodded, as Quin spoke.
"It took all of me.." she spoke quietly, as if it ashamed her, to lose so much of herself. " I dont really know what i want to regain...i wasnt...me...long enough to have a base. I just know that i want...to be happy" she shuddered lightly. The thought she didnt know who she was? Who she was destined to be, who she could've been. If only...
Pulling herself from her reprieve of her own lost identity, she looked to Quin. And she noticed his frown. She gently nudged him, and offered a smile "Follow your heart. the rest will fall into place"

Quin tried to grin at the nudging, but it turned into more of a grimace. He walked a bit more before he really replied, the words coming slowly as he thought them out.
"Everyone wants to be happy... but wanting to be and knowing how to be are... very different. Some people make it look so easy..." He trailed off for a moment, shaking his head and stifling a sigh at the thought of kitsu like Eruanna and her grandmother Aldiina who didn't seem to know how not to find the bright side of a situation. He, on the other hand...
He glanced down at Raven for another long moment before looking up and saying rather firmly, "It didn't take all of you. If it had you wouldn't still be a nice person... if there wasn't any of you left you wouldn't care." He knew that place... if Celeste hadn't been there he might very well have lost what little of himself he'd had. Thinking about that made him frown again, and he said without really thinking, "I guess we both need to figure out... who we want to be... if we don't know who we were supposed to be..."

Raven winced in return at his grimace, she wanted to make him happy, to get a smile from her friend, but she'd failed. She shook her head, trying to chase away the feeling of failure that was trying to creep in. After her battle with unwanted emotions, she turned her attention to Quin. She walked slowly beside him, keeping a few steps back. She nodded at what he said. "I dont know how anymore...Danny and her daughters have a precious gift...." she said quietly, thinking of Ahdahnia and her girls. They were always so happy, so positive. If only they knew how rare a gift that was.
Raven lightly tilted her head, at his sudden firm statement, but she saw his point. "For a while there, it felt like it did....i wouldnt leave the house....I refused to leave Spikes room, i dont know how long i stayed under the bed." she gave a soft sigh, and shook her head, trying to clear away those memories. "I want to feel safe....i want....something like my parents. A love strong enough to last the ages...." She gave a soft chuckle. "I think i've been listening to Ahdahnia's stories too much"
She paused in her steps, and turned her golden gaze to Quin, it had a determination and compassion in it. "I dont have much to offer, but i consider you a dear friend, even though the hours we've known each other have been short, and if you ever need anything, even if its just to talk, or get out of the house. I'm here." She gave a sincere smile.
