I figured out from the last thread I posted on that we have Catholics in our mist. That is good, because I am not Catholic, and I am going to a Catholic church (yeah...long story).
So, this is my atttempt to get some answers about the Catholic faith and/or for anyone else that is interested in Catholism in general.

Basic beliefs that make it different than a Methodist church. Saints, who the pope is, that kind of stuff in paragraph form. Other things I don't know. Why do the son, the father, and the holy spirit hand sign thing. Anything you can think of I should know.

I have been a Roman Catholic for 25 years until I converted to the Kemetic Orthodoxy, and I served as an Alter Boy during my school years.
The reason for the father, son and holy ghost hand sign is that it is invoking the three aspects of God and it is the traditional way to end a prayer, since the prayers are usually to one of these three, or to all three that the prayer is being addressed. When the Alter Boy rings the bells during mass when the priest is performing the consecration of the eucharist and wine, it is to signify that God is descending to bless them and make them holy/pure for consumtion and convert its spiritual energies to that of the flesh and blood of Christ. As for the Pope, those elected as the pope are viewed to be spiritual decendants of Peter, the deciple of Christ. Right now, the pope is Pope benedict, or I like to call him, Darth Benedict (He SO looks like Darth Palpatine razz )
One thing that seperates Roman Calothics from Prodistants is that Prodistants view the scriptures as the most important part of the mass, while Catholics view the eucharist as the most important. Also, Roman Catholics are more formal in thier masses, whereas the Prodistant masses I have attended seem to be more informal, like a group gathering with only a few formal portions.
