If you mean 'world peace' as in no one fighting ever? nuh uh. Not happening. Don't get me wrong-It's a beautiful dream, but we can NOT do that kind of miricale by ourselves. -agrees with maxmage on- There is always going to be someone who hates another, no matter how many words you thow at them. Encouraging, helping, and promoting good, as well as shunning evil, is a definate yes. But as long as humans are imperfect, then we cannot obtain true 'world peace'. To claim otherwise is to completely disregard reality-to live in a dream world.

I believe world peace is impossible.
Though it is a dream I would like the achieve, it's just not possible.
It is human nature to be violent.
Violence as been around since the beginning of time.
There is even violence (and many other things) in the Bible.
Violence is a daily part of our lives.

And my friend, Zahzi, has written a very good journal argument for this topic, which I am now going to share with you guys.

Zahzi, in his Gaia journal,
They say the one thing humanity will never find, is pertaining to that of peace.

Peace...Heh...What a funny word...For as long as I've seen it, it just means when both sides of hatred are reloading.
Peace can never last, and if it does, it is destroyed, just because everyone grew tired of it.
Think about it, if the world was plunged into such a realm, we would lose our minds. Nothing interesting would happen. No news that peaks our amusement. No entertainment in the form of games, or movies...And think of the people whose lives depend on war to grant them money...

If world peace existed, none of us would really be here...We would not be the people we are today, who we are tomorrow, and who we will become later on after that...
This, is because our culture is so addicted to violence. At least, that's how I see it, anyway...You cannot walk down a street, go to your job, go to school, or anything else without seeing something that at least hints to violence. It's not a bad thing, no. It made you who you are today.

"Is it wrong to use Violence as some form of amusement?" a teacher once asked my class and I, as we sat there, talking about the recent upcomings in the country.
A few of them had no clue.
Some had idiotic responses, like "No! because it's cool." Or "Yes, it's horrible!"

Why do people miss the obvious reason? The answer that stares them right in the face as they look in the mirror at night.

Instinct.

It is in Humanity's nature to love the sight of violence. To revel in it, to see it as a drug. Nothing can change that. And nothing ever will.
As I type this, in fact, I am watching a violent show on the televison. No one can escape their humanity.

yes i agree world peace can only be achieved in two ways 1: all of humanity is wiped out or 2: only one government remains because then there is no one left to argue with there point of view

For me, it is not a question of whether or not it is achievable. I could care less, really. (BTW, dot_hack_ver2; 1: If all of humanity is wiped out, there will still be war on earth via intelligent animals. Also, if all life is wiped out, then there is no peace or war. 2: If there is only one government, then there will be ALOT of people arguing with them. Rebellions mean that there is not peace.)

Anyway, I do NOT want peace on Earth. Ever. There is something we must all be able to consider when assessing the human populace (and ourselves). And that is, we are evil and warring. All of us have a little in us us, most of us have alot in us. If world peace WERE achieved, it would not be remain for very long and it would create an iminant doom for all of man.

This is my evidence. I have two main arguments.
The first; The Pax Romana
Rome went through a period of their history in which the entirety of Rome was nearly completely at peace with everything. After this time of peace, the Germanic tribes that had harbored themselves within the Roman Empire were growing testy, uneasy, and tense. Well, in conclusion; "If the strain on Roman manpower was beginning to be pushed to the extreme already, events were about to unfold that would force Augustus to call for a complete end to Imperial expansion."
If this was the fate of the Roman Empire in about 200 AD, imagine the fate of the entire world in 2009 with access to enough explosives to blow up 10 Earths.

The next; Empire Earth.
This argument may not seem incredibly valid, but it illustrates my point to perfection. I once played a game called "Empire Earth" online. (I wasn't half bad at it! Hehehe.) Anyway, when playing online, they sometimes had games known as "City Builder". In this game, you were to join, ally with about half of the other players, and build an empire. No war allowed. You were to take no hostile action against ANYONE. For the purpose of explanation, we will symbolize this as "Peace on Earth". In these games, I would always build about 100 fortresses out in the middle of a forrest some where and fill them all to the brim with more soldiers than I knew what to do with. Then, I would keep all of my citizens hotkeyed and directly next to each other. Finally, I'd build 5 walls around my city. Why? Because, every single time, without fail (ALWAYS AND FOREVER), a fight would break out about 2 or 3 hours into the game. While everyone else was hunting down citizens to kill for soldiers (pop cap), I'd have them all mass deleted and an army created in no time. I believe that a period of peace in the world would only lead to the anniahlation of humans, and I think that Empire Earth has helped me portray that.

Essentially, I'm saying that war is a necessary evil in the world. As such, I dislike war, but I don't want world peace.
