Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | Instructions Written by: Neil GaimanTouch the wooden gate in the wall you never saw before. Say “please” before you open the latch, go through, walk down the path. A red metal imp hangs from the green-painted front door, as a knocker, do not touch it; it will bite your fingers. Walk through the house. Take nothing. Eat nothing. However, if any creature tells you that it hungers, feed it. If it tells you that it is dirty, clean it. If it cries to you that it hurts, if you can, ease it’s pain.
From the back garden you will be able to see the wild wood. The deep well you walk past leads to Winter’s realm; there is another land at the bottom of it. If you turn around here, you can walk back safely; you will lose no face. I will think no less of you.
Once through the garden, you will be in the wood. The trees are old. Eyes peer from the undergrowth. Beneath a twisted oak sits an old woman. She may ask for something; give it to her. She will point the way to the castle. Inside it are three princesses. Do not trust the youngest. Walk on. In the clearing beyond the castle the twelve months sit about a fire, warming their feet, exchanging tales. They may do favors for you, if you are polite. You may pick strawberries in December’s frost. Trust the wolves, but do not tell them where you are going. The river can be crossed by the ferry. The ferry-man will take you. (The answer to his question is this: If he hands the oar to his passenger, he will be free to leave the boat. Only tell him this from a safe distance.)
If an eagle gives you a feather, keep it safe. Remember: that giants sleep too soundly, that witches are often betrayed by their appetites; dragons have one soft spot, somewhere, always; hearts can be well-hidden, and you betray them with your tongue.
Do not be jealous of your sister. Know that diamonds and roses are as uncomfortable when they tumble from one’s lips as toads and frogs: colder, too, and sharper, and they cut.
Remember your name. Do not lose hope-what you seek will be found. Trust ghosts. Trust those that you have helped to help you in their turn. Trust dreams. Trust your heart, and trust your story. When you come back, return the way you came. Favors will be returned, debts be repaid. Do not forget your manners. Do not look back. Ride the wise eagle (you shall not fall) Ride the silver fish (you will not drown) Ride the gray wolf (hold tightly to his fur).
There is a worm at the heart of the tower; that is why it will not stand.
When you reach the little house, the place your journey started, you will recognize it, although it will seem much smaller than you remember. Walk up the path, and through the garden gate you never saw before but once. And then go home. Or make a home.
Or rest.Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone |

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | Once Upon A Time.... 'Once upon a time', the well-known, first words of most fairy tails. The fairy tales everyone knows of with the fairy godmothers, witches, evil sorcerers and the like. Well, unlike most other fairy tales, this one starts out in a rural town in present day New York.
Celebrating the marvelous achievement of their son, the Roberts family announced that they were holding a party. Now, the Roberts weren't just any ordinary family: they were filthy rich. Their parties were always the most extravagant fiascoes that their small town had seen. Most of the time, only the certain few family friends and wealthy relatives were invited, but this time, half the town got an invitation. The party would take place in their mansion that sat on the outskirts of the town on the third Saturday in June. To say that the mansion was large would have been an understatement. The house itself sat atop a small hill past a long, paved driveway. There was a gate in the front, blocking out any unwanted visitors. Once past the gate, the driveway continued for a short while surrounded on each side by a large expanse of healthy, green grass. The mansion had a large entrance with vines growing up either side and many windows looking out the front. Most had curtains blocking any outsider from viewing the room's contents, though there were still a few that were left open.
In the back yard, there was a large garden with what looked like a maze made out of bushes towards the back. This 'maze' was quite a distance from the mansion itself and would serve as a place of rest during the party. It was far enough away that the noisy sounds of the party barely reached it and a group of the party-goers had ended up coming there. Why they were there was up to them. What they didn't know was that they were about to stumble onto something big. Something that would change their lives forever. And it was just through a pair of garden gates....Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone |

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | How To Get Along Every fairly tale is different in it's own way. This one was inspired by the writing of Neil Gaiman. He is the same author who wrote 'Stardust', the book that was turned into a movie. The 'adult fairy tale' as it were. I read his short story 'Instructions', which is in the first post, and it inspired this role play.
Now, I have a few instructions of my own for anyone wishing to join. (Also known as general rules.) 1. Obviously, follow both Gaia TOS and the guild rules please and thank you. 2. Please please please try to be active! I have been in far too many role plays that have died very quickly only because the people in them stopped posting. Post! Especially if someone is waiting for your character to respond. If you're having trouble thinking of something, ask someone or at least make your problem known. We might be able to help. Also along those lines, if you are going to be absent for a long time, please let us know. (Note: I will not kick someone out after they don't post for a long time. I'll kick you out if you made a character, posted a few times, then stopped and haven't posted for about a month with no reason known to me.) 3. Try to be literate. Please. Just a tip: I find the best role players use past tense and third person in their writing. I'm not requiring it, but it is what I prefer. 4. Romance and violence are accepted and encouraged as in most role plays. And, as in most role plays, I stress that you do not take it too far. I myself can handle quite a bit of gore, but there are others who can't. So if someone thinks you're going too far, take it as a warning and tone it down. 5. I am the master of this role play, so listen to what I say. As I have said before, I am not a mean person, so this should not be difficult. 6. Be respectful to everyone. I hate it when people get in fights over role plays. It's rather annoying and unnecessary. 7. No Godmodding! None! I hate it! There shouldn't be too much of a problem in this role play in particular, but it is quite possible. If you have a good reason for having a fairy tale character come in later that is 'all powerful', then I may allow it. But try not to make it so they have no weaknesses at all. That just zaps the fun out of anything. 8. Post your OOC in some other form besides just regular writing such as (()) or .::. or in some way that distinguishes that it's OOC.
Now, those are the general rules. Here are some rules to follow once you start role playing:
1. First off, I must stress that NONE of the characters in this role play have read the 'Instructions', so none of them know what to do in these situations. They are posted there so that you may know what is going on in some way or another. So I am expecting that every character here will be doing something wrong quite often.(When I saw wrong, I mean they aren't following the instructions.) If you make you're character follow everything perfectly, there is a very high possibility that something will bite your head off. Maybe like a goblin or something... 2. Now, I have the plot written down for my own viewing, but I will not be sharing it with everyone. It would spoil the surprise. So expect many 'plot twists', if you will, during the story. I don't expect to be the only one adding these 'plot twists' either, so add your own! It'll make things more fun, more unexpected. I know everyone should have heard at least one fairy tale in their life, the most interesting ones are the ones with unexpected twists and turns all throughout them. Besides, I don't want to feel like I'm the only one controlling the flow of the story. 3. The characters will start out at the party in the garden. Everyone who is going to take part in the 'journey' will have to be there when they enter the gates. 4. When filling out a profile, your character is in one of the positions. You get to choose which one you want, unless they have been taken. I posted the positions in the next post, so choose which one you want and make sure to specify it in the designated spot in the profile.Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone |

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | Who Are We? There are eight distinct personalities who get sucked into the world of fairy tales. Each character in this role play will be based off of the following:
The Brain: The intelligent one in the group. This person would have spent much of their free time studying for school or just looking up new facts. They are always looking to expand their knowledge.
The Brawn: The sporty one. This person would have competed in numerous sports in school and anywhere else. They are very fit and have rather obvious strength. They spend much of their free time training or working out.
The Dare-Devil: The brave one. This person has the courage and bravery to take on any kind of danger life will through at them. They tend not to care how dangerous a situation is, they will simply dive into it head-on. They're the type who was climbing tress before they could walk.
The Captain: The born leader. This person takes control of any group situation and sends it in the right direction. They can think about situations logically and calmly, often taking time to evaluate things before making a decision.
The Child: The quiet, shy one. Though not necessarily a child, per se, this person has a child-like mentality. They remain quiet quite often, only speaking up if spoken to or if they absolutely feel necessary. They are somewhat naive as well.
The Nurturer: The motherly one. This person always is there to help anyone, whether they are upset or just having trouble doing something. This person is rarely caught saying a mean word to anyone unless it is in another's defense. They know how to make someone feel better.
The Jerk: The annoying one. This person is the complete opposite of the Nurturer. They have trouble understanding other's feelings partially because they just don't care. They are constantly on the lookout for number one and don't who they offend.
The Jester: The sarcastic one. This person is constantly joking around. They rarely take things seriously and are always trying to make people laugh. Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone |

The party was in full swing by 10 am. The Robert's always did believe in the saying 'the early bird gets the worm', after all. The party was filled with any and every sort of thing a party could possibly have, including multiple bands, a chocolate fountain, and many others. No matter how many people thought that these things were a bit extravagant for a graduation party, the Roberts always insisted that they were necessary. Most of the party was in the backyard, though the house was left open to the public. The hosts said that it was open to everyone even though many of the rooms remained locked. Even from inside the house the party was still audible. The band had a strong system of amps that beat the steady sound of the bass throughout the large yard. There was a long buffet style table that stretched away from the house and through the grass. It was filled with all the foods one could imagine, including desserts, foreign food(the Roberts insisted that everyone would feel welcome at their party), and snacks. The plates and napkins were all custom made with the Robert's family crest on them with some other intricate designs. They almost looked to fancy to spoil with food. The band had it's own stage over near the corner of the back end of the house. In front of them was a large, empty area for people to listen or dance, though why anyone would want to sit that close to them, who knew. Their music was loud enough for people in other states to hear it. The only place that seemed to dampen the noise was in the garden towards the back. It had a lovely entrance, marked by a tall wall-like shrubbery that had a gate-like break towards the center. There were beautiful flowers growing around the bushes and over the shrub. Inside there were many other bushes, flowers, and plants. Some looked almost exotic while others looked like something one would find in a professional botanical garden.

A short yawn slipped from the young lady as she swirled her drink in her right hand. She tugged lightly at the zipper on her hoodie. It was too early to be here, she thought. Why had she gotten her early again? Oh right, because her blasted car decided not to work. And how kind her brother was to send her right on over in his car. With him in the driving seat of coarse. If he didn't give her a ride then she would never have gotten here and well, to be truthful, she had nothing else to do. If she wasn't here she would be at home twiddling her thumbs on her couch. That doesn't qualify as an exciting day. She gave a sigh as she walked out into the garden, the morning air giving her a new bounce in her step as the sun's rays cast a gentle glow on her hair. Perhaps this place, this party, would give her something exciting to do. Perhaps a boy would find his way to her. Life always changed. No constant made its home in the world. Everything always changed.

"My, do they like to celebrate..." Trace commented to himself as he scanned the large area that served as the Roberts' back yard. There seemed to be something taking up every once of space, yet still enough room to hold a certain 'open' feel. Needless to say, the Roberts knew how to throw a party. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Trace began his rounds of wandering. He was curious to see all of the attracted the Roberts had either bought or hired to entertain their guests. Never being to their so-called 'home' before, he really had no idea if everything they had laid out was as normal as a pool for them or not. They were rather extravagant, after all. He wouldn't be surprised if they had an indoor pool somewhere in their vast expanse of a house. No, he wouldn't be surprised at all. But he also got the feeling that exploring their entire house and back yard would take far too much time. Time he would rather spend doing other things...
