Rinahlia yawned loudly as she crawled out of her bed and opened the curtains in her room. She hacked a small cough as the accumulated dust on the cloth began to spread out in the air. Still half asleep, she staggered to her desk and took a look at her calendar. “……” Today’s the first day of school. She let out another yawn, smaller this time as she blinked at the number circled in red sharpie marker. Her pale blue eyes glanced around her room until she looked at the clock hanging next to her door. A split second later she rubbed her eyes furiously realizing she had overslept. “s**t”. Taking off her pajamas, she ran into the shower to get ready. Fifteen minutes later, she ran out of her room all dressed in her school uniform, her red hair still damp. Before she bolted out the door, she stopped in front of Sorin’s room. It was empty. “Damn it, he went ahead !” Rhin ran out the door, grabbing her bag on the way and slamming the door shut behind her.
When she arrived at school, she was already out of breath. “ Geez. Juggling three jobs and school. I’m not cut out for this anymore.” She slid down and sat on the floor outside her classroom for a bit to catch her breath. After recomposing herself, she steadily brought herself up and entered the room with a small sigh. She was on time, for once. Several of her classmates had already arrived, conversing with each other. Rhin did not bother even making eye contact with any of them. The first thing she had to do was claim her seat. She made her way towards her usual spot; the back of the classroom, next to the window. It was the best spot to daydream during the teacher’s lecture and sleep without being bothered. She could only hope no one annoying sat beside her. After juggling her part time jobs, somehow, class time became bedtime for her. It was a daily routine for her even during her previous years in school. Her focus would be on the class work for a good five minutes. When she caught on to the point of the lesson being taught, she would put her head down and sleep. Her grades weren’t a problem. She slid down into her seat and jerked her head back, taking a breather from all the accumulated stress from the past several weeks.
