Jeff Gordon has stated himself that he will be retiring within the next few years. He said he does not see himself racing past the age of 40. His 37th birthday is this coming week.

I've heard that for a few years now, but will he retire for good, or like Mark Martin?

Soultrain I've heard that for a few years now, but will he retire for good, or like Mark Martin? He said he doesn't see himself racing past age forty, so I would think he would be done for good.

I would of rather seen somebody win under the old style standings. And look at how much closer the Nationwide standings are. When Jimmie retires, i'm gonna quit watching Cup unless they do away with the chase format. PS: The standard points format wouldn't permit such land slide wins if the seasons were a bit shorter. I mean c'mon, does a track like California really deserve 2 dates??

He said he doesn't see himself racing past age forty, so I would think he would be done for good. We'll still see him around for a while in nascar. He does co-own Jimmie Johnson's car after all.

I see him help running Hendrick after Hendrick retires from ownership, which I see within the next 10 years.

To be honest.. I don't think that the new age driver generation will do much racing after 42. I just don't see it. Both Gordon and big Jim xd have said it... and unlike Mark..I believe it. Besides I think that he wants to go out semi on top.
