Scrubs did the best job in dealing with abortion that I've seen. JD and his girlfriend were contemplating what to do in an unwanted pregnancy, and Jordan (the House-like doctor's wife/girlfriend/whatever-she-is) mentions that she had one. Of course, it gets ruined with some streotypes (Jordan got pregnant in some "slutty" fashion) and stupidity (their son asks what an abortion is and precedes to run around yelling "My mommy had an abortion!") but other than that, very mature.

Oh, and that episode made me hate Laverne because she freaks out and holds up a Jesus statue.

Yeah, Scrubs is great. But it's supposed to be really stupid. Although, you have to have at least one person against it due to their religion.. There was one episode where Carla was pregnant but she didn't know, while the entire hospital did, so her husband decides to have a surprise party type of thing with baby balloons when she leaves the hospital. When he tells JD to abort the plan, JD runs around yelling "Abort the plan! Abort the party! Abort the babies!". He says the last part mistakenly, and is afraid he offended the priest or whatever. However, the priest doesn't mind and simply states "It's okay, I'm pro-choice".
I saw both those episodes. I liked them. At least they don't fear the word.

I'm bringing the topic back up!

They're making a movie of the book "A Thousand Splendid Suns", which has a scene in which the girl considers an abortion. In the end she doesn't do it because she decides that aborting because the kid's father is a huge douchebag isn't a very good reason to abort. Whatever, it's a better reason than "it has fingernails" (I would've respected the Juno character more if she gave a better reason than that). But FallenEverdark makes sense. At least they never tried to imply that all girls who get abortions, or girls who consider abortions, are evil sluts. We're all pro-choice, right? So she makes the CHOICE not to abort.

There was an episode of House in which a girl gets pregnant because of rape, and House convinces her to get an abortion. This girl wasn't portrayed as an evil slut; just a victim.

pidgezero_one: The creator of Family Guy is obviously liberal (he is very anti-Palin). You can tell how the show hints at it by taking abortion in a light, comical matter, (the issue with conservative comedy is that they rarely loosen up and they often put political message before comedy). I guess you could also tell that the smartest, most logical character in the show, Brian, is clearly pro-choice.

I really don't care if the show leans toward a political position, as long as abortion could be handled maturely once in a while.

I was just thinking about this the other day, actually, and there's an episode of Seinfeld where Elaine tells Jerry not to get food from a place that donates to anti-abortion groups, and breaks up with a guy because he is anti-abortion.

I remember seeing another episode where George thought the woman he was seeing was pregnant, and he made sure that she knew that he would support her through any decision.

....What is it with the comedies? xd

I watched a movie called "Palindrome" that was about abortion and keeping pregnancy and it was all manner of ******** up.

It made everyone look either pro-life or pro abortion, not pro choice. It made me sad.

And then there's that fun horror movies called "Dumplings" involving aborted fetuses being made into "youth rejuvinating" foods for this older woman to eat in an attempt to get her husband to stop sleeping around.

Num num num, get your Soilent dumpling! IT IS MADE OF PROTOPEOPLE!

I'm currently watching Criminal Minds and omg, yay! The character Emily Prentiss just described when she got an abortion at age 15 and said of the friend (a boy) that helped her through the event, "Matthew saved my life." Yaaaaaaaay!
She was a bit crying-y, but that's because the friend was just murdered and reliving the terror of going back to church after the priest told her she wasn't welcome anymore.
