You can't get an IUD like Mirena unless you've had a child, are in a stable relationship, etc. Your GYN can tell you more.
The IUD is recommended for women who have children. You can get an IUD if you have not had a child, it's just that many doctors will be hesitant or will even refuse since the IUD can cause infertility. Some childless women who feel strongly about never having children have shopped around until they found a doctor who was willing to give it to them though.

i want to get an IUD i was thinking of getting Mirena. i havent talked to my gyn abt it though how do u like it. were there any complications with it. were there any side affects. im only 15. i dont want to use the pill cause i heard that once you get off of it after using it awhile can really harm you. so please let me know.
That being said, I can't imagine a doctor giving an IUD to a 15 year old. If you're shopping for birth control, you're going to have to do some research. Check out this thread
