I just graduated last year, I was the class of 2008.
Marching band was my FAVORITE thing during school and I've even joined other associations around Minnesota to march during this summer too.
So I was just wondering, is there anybody else out there with the same situation? I was just curious on how many 'fresh' high school graduates got chosen to instruct the thing they loved the most.

xD I feel really stupid. I forgot there was a designated marching band discussion sub-forum. D:

I think our old Brass instructor was fresh outa high school when he started helping the percussion during Winter Percussion. He ended up being the reason why many people joined band again this year, though he's got a lot of stuff going on right now with his school so he can't teach at my school anymore.
It can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It depends on the person. And if you just look for a big band in your area and offer to help out (volunteer first), then you'll probably find something that might turn into a job later on once the BD knows you're good at what you do.
