The foe knew how to handle himself against people like the swordsman. Briefly amusing himself over this adversary, the swordsman pulled his stab back in an unsuspecting move, cocking it closely as if implying another preparation stab in the process.
With the knife that once parried his sword to the sides, the bracers were there for the very reason that Reyin is stabbing his closed hand; a defensive gear for use.

CLANG!

With a loud impact, the swordsman twisted his hand lightly to have the bracer be in the way of the stab, the knife hitting nothing but a hardened surface that blocked its path.

At the same time, ice erupted out of the swordsman's bracer, a simple spike careening straight towards Reyin's chest in an attempt to impale.
Regardless of whether or not the spike would hit, the swordsman could care less as he would quickly push away from Reyin to put some distance between the two.

Apparently that hardened surface was metal or something, judging by the clang and all. Reyin must have completely missed that part, but with the rotation of the sword Reyin's own weapon was able to pull away, ready in defense of another stab or something similar from the swordsman in front of him.

The ice spike was unexpected, and was met with reflex alone as Reyin uttered something that sounded vaguely like "WHOSHGIHTFHAK", leaning back and swinging his sword across his body, hitting the spike with the flat of the blade and sending it either careening off to the side if it was launched, or redirecting it into Reyin's shoulder if it was still attached to the bracer.

And as Snow pushed off, there wasn't much Reyin could do but slide backwards on the ice. He didn't have much by way of traction, and the ice he was standing on was thin enough that trying to stab through it would only break through about a quarter of a centimeter before hitting solid stone.

So Snow got his distance and more, as Reyin went sliding away on top of what could amount to as a near perfectly frictionless surface.

A surprise that he didn't hit his mark, but the swordsman didn't mind. The spike was still attached to the bracer, having a basis of 'surface' to keep its integrity so that it would have more conventional impact than a simple projectile. If plowing either into Reyin's shoulder or missing it by some factor or so, the spike fluctuated a bit, immediately spreading out to chase after the opponent's body or simply dig deeper, latching onto whatever contact it can onto the foe's clothing or flesh.

It has its range though, and if giving chase the spike would just snap off roughly after its distance extended to no more than a few feet away from the bracer -- not enough charge applied into that sneak attack. Leaving Reyin with either a latched on spike impaled into his shoulder, or a safe break that would at least put some ease into the back of Reyin's mind.

But, deciding to take the fight up another notch while both combatants retreated respectively away from each other by then, the swordsman took a deep breath, once more halting his motion on the slippery surface. Right blade raised into the air, its cool metallic surface glinting under the sunlight.

A slight bluish light would envelop the length of the blade, but the swordsman gave no chase at the foe sliding ever so further away from his position.

Could it be....?

Reyin wasn't going to be changing his direction of motion for quite some time, so as the opposing swordsman stood still, Reyin just kept on sliding until he hit the edge of the arena and was deposited just off the edge, onto the grass where he landed rather safely.

"Alright..."

As he slid, Reyin had sheathed his knife and sword, and was now in the process of taking off his shoes as the ten count began. His sneakers didn't have a whole lot of grip, since they were a pretty worn pair of tennis shoes. But with his socks, hopefully the warmth of his body heat would melt some of the ice and actually give him some traction as he stepped with water-laden socks, the ice actually attaching itself to the water on contact.

"If that's how you wanna play..."

Once the shoes were kicked off, Reyin stepped back and then launched himself back onto the arena, sliding on the ice and picking up as much watery residue as possible before putting his weight forward and coming to a halt.

"That's how we'll play."

"You know."

The swordsman continued to hold his blade up, the tip starting to tremble and tweak under some invisible stress it is starting to accumulate. Reyin's method was sound, and the swordsman casted a grin under that expression of his.

"Next time, buy some boots with light holding clamps beneath. Helps with traction."

With it, his very own body started to flare up against some invisible wind, the air starting to turn dry at each passing moment.
In that left side stance in which he faced Reyin with, the left blade was held so that it again acted like a parrying obstacle for use, while he charged up even more energy for use against the swordsman Reyin.

Out of courtesy, he was taking his time to charge up and giving Reyin an opportunity to prepare whatever was necessary to fight against the sword-wielding ice user.
Because in the next post, the foe will indeed need all the help he can get.
