I'm looking for something interesting to learn (history related). So could you guys recommend something? Whether it be a person, a place, an event, a civilisation, etc.

Something interesting . . . Well, I just finished Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir. The book's about Lady Jane Gray, who was queen for all of nine days after the death of Edward VI.

I would recommend The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang. It is about the invasion of Nanking by Japanese troops during World War II. I will warn you that it is very vivd and does not hold back any information.

Let's see what I can think of right off the top of my head...
It has nothing to do with history (Directly, anyways), but Starship Troopers is an incredible novel that was, at least I think, very satirical of 1950s society.
