I'll leave the article I found for you to read.

Large Hadron Collider

Basically, if this thing is started and everything goes as planned, then there are a few outcomes:
1. Quarks are created, which change all matter that they touch into quarks, "eating" all matter they come in contact with.
2. A micro black hole is created, Which will, you guessed it, EAT MATTER.
3. God Particles are created, and the answer to life, the universe, and everything is found. The world will probably destroy itself soon after, just for spite.

What do you think about this? Should the LHC be left unused, or should mankind risk destruction for knowledge?

I'm living with false hope

And my eyes just want to see a ray of light

I'm gonna find it in my fairy tale...

Oh wow... that's kind of... well, interesting, but scary, too. I really have no idea what should happen with it.

You know, it's also possible that all of these things could happen. Or nothing. Or the world will end before they even try. On the other hand, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Any risk is worth knowledge that would be helpful to the development of mankind, especially an uncertain one. This whole thing has been overblown by people who don't know what they're talking about.

you're right to think that, but it's not as simple... the human race has been lucky with it's developments.. you have to remember that the number of people who have succeeded to prove that quote is equal to those who have failed or died trying... knowledge is something that must be carefully obtained.. without the experiences, they don't know what will happen, and can only hope that what they are doing will have a positive outcome...

well a small black hole would not effect much because of it small event horizen and would only last seconds.
and the other two events are so improble that we probley do not have to worry about it.
seriously am i the only person who studies astrophysics.

that is just a small small SMALL percentile and the media just blew it out of proportion for no reasons at all just to make themselves a story i assure you it's a good bet that nothing will happen

My friends and I were having a conversation about this a while back, I seriously doubt the world will end, but it would be oh so very amusing if we aren't killed by war, famine, or eco-disaster, but by a science experiment that went out of hand.

This thing is really overhyped.

What the LHC does happens naturally all the time in the upper atmosphere, and so far there hasn't been any black holes up there.
