Ok so, for those of you who aren't familiar with my random 3 O' clock in the morning idea here it is;
Basically instead of just a normal "fluff" based character sheet (Favorite color, personality ect...) My idea is to actually give the characters a true Codex stat list; build a character based on a codex entry with proper equipment and points total.
Of coarse the points total would be determined before the RP started and such and the limitation of unit's available to be used (if any) Which may be limited to "people" as to avoid some one taking a Land raider and a character (funny idea) but not what we are after with this idea.
Terrain--
Now as for terrain I came up with another idea, as well as a text description of our area if you are changing the scenery post a picture example of what your describing I.E. Google a swamp and post the image. This way it gives people a clear idea of what they have to work with instead of "Our men are starving in this swamp... Oh thats no big deal Sergeant, there is a Mc D's right there." OR "Oh NO! We are trapped in a dead end hall! ::the squad quickly rounds the corner to safety::"
Movement and turns or (posts)
Just as in the game we all know and love, you can only move once per turn (post), So! Only do the same in your posts not "Officer awesome_Sauce Leaps over the wall coming to rest on the ground on the other side, he takes off running again killing every thing in his path then leaps into his cherry red bane blade on 36" inch rims and peals out."
If your action is hideously absurd for your character to do such as an Ig leaping an 9 foot wall in a single bounding leap, make a difficult terrain check, if you miss you go splat and your character needs to evolve his story from their. If you past your check, well he could have had a strong tail wind or the motivation to escape the Tyranids behind him.
I think if we keep to using some of the usable 40k game mechanics in story we leave some of the rp's outcome to chance rather then a linear story line, you just don't know if your character will survive their armor check smile
Gaia has a great dice rolling system we can use I will post an example in the next post.
