Yes, you can get the last generation for cheaper, but you have to wait for it to evolve.
The thing I'm worried about is that while you're wearing the gloves, it'll evolve, so you won't be able to use them any longer.

I think you have to re-create your avatar to get new eyes. It's completely safe to do.
