From the edge of the lagoon, a narrow dirt track leads up through the woodlands. At the end of the track is a clearing approximately 40m in diameter, ringed with a white picket fence, with a small stone cottage in the centre and a garden around it. A "SOLD" sign hangs on the open gate. A young woman is planting something in one of the raised beds. She looks up and waves at you. "Hallo! Come on in. Sorry it's a bit bare; we've only just moved in and haven't had time to decorate yet." She ushers you inside.

The door opens into a large room filled with cardboard boxes. The only things visible in the midst of all the mess are two doors in the far wall, an empty fireplace and a comfortable-looking blue sofa, on which a Charpia is sleeping, a beetle balanced precariously on her nose.

"This is Barbatos. You know how they say that if you go to the end of a rainbow, you'll find a pot of gold? Of course, I never used to believe that kind of stuff, but one day when I was out for a walk, the sky seemed to be changing colour around me. I'm not kidding! Believe it or not, I was walking through a rainbow. It got lower and lower, and then there was the end. And sitting there, right in front of me, was a pot of gold. Well, I say a pot, it was more of a cauldron! There was enough in there to buy this place, and more. But that wasn't all. There was a little stripy bag on top of the pile. When I picked it up, it wriggled. I didn't know what to do with it, so I just left it on the table. I almost forgot about it, to be honest. Then out popped this little lady! She's been with me ever since. Led me to this island, in fact. She's an adventurous one, and friendly. Not too good around snakes or cows, though."

The first door leads to the kitchen. On one side of the room is a circular wooden table with three chairs arranged around it. A very squishy-looking beanbag sits in a corner, with a Charpia sunk into it.

"This is Zoey. Barbatos and her friend Velopia found her when they went on a fishing trip!"

"This is Solstice. Isn't he sweet? (Badum-shhh!)"

Another door is visible in the corner, but behind it is just a bathroom.

The second door from the living room reveals a narrow wooden staircase. At the top is a light and airy landing, with two rooms opening off it. The first is empty save for a heavy, dark green rug. A charpia bag sits on a similarly coloured cushion on the windowsill.

"And this little lady is Tamsin. I imagine she'll be a bold adventurer when she grows up...but we'll have to wait and see, won't we?"

The last room is dominated by a four-poster bed. Several suitcases are propped neatly against one wall; one is open and its contents strewn all over the floor. On the bedside table is a photo holder with greetings cards, all picturing Charpia, inserted in it.
