Recently, one of our members posted a thread stating she got hacked. Here are some tips on avoiding that fate. If anyone else has more tips please post them. And I am going to ask one of the crew to please sticky this in a visible place.
_______________________________________________________
Number 1 way to be hacked on Gaia -> Phony pms. A person can send you a pm with a link, and when you click on the link, it looks like your logged out and need to log back in. To avoid this, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR URL.
Secondly, after this happens, CLOSE YOUR BROWSER, CLEAR YOUR HISTORY, CLEAR YOUR COOKIES.
Number 2 way to be hacked-> Poser ADMINS. Again, you receive a PM from a hacker, only in this one, they claim to be an administrator, and say that if you don't verify your password, your account will be deleted. Admins, developers, Mods, whatever, will NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD. This is why YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR PASSWORD.
Number 3 way to get hacked-> Towns. Towns is currently filled with scripters, and apparently there is a way for them to steal your cookies and become you. Personally, I suggest AVOIDING TOWNS, but if you must go.... AS SOON AS YOU LEAVE TOWNS, LOG OFF YOUR BROWSER, CLEAR YOUR HISTORY, CLEAR YOUR COOKIES.
Hope my advice helps others.
