Sienna lay on a rock by the side of a river, a half-eaten antelope laying on the ground not too far away. She cleaned her face and paws methodically as she discussed somethings with her ghostly daughter who was the mirror of her mother in markings, if not color. Lilac was telling her about how her old mate was, and her step-children were fairing at the moment. Sienna stopped her cleaning and stared at the river at the mention of them, her heart breaking to realize how much she'd given up when she'd made the choice to leave him so that he could be happy instead of having to worry about her who was near death at the time as it was. She was no longer their step-mother, and she wondered if they even thought about her. There was still a bit of hurt inside to hear how quickly Aquos had found another to replace her, while she was out here alone and struggling. but she knew in her heart she could never go back anyways even if he hadn't. What was done was done, she had failed him as a mate, and this was her fate, choice or no.

Lilac sighed knowing she'd awoken feelings her mother was still struggling to deal with, even if she had come along ways since finding out her children had died before they'd even had the chance to breathe air outside her womb, and in turn had fallen silent as well. She really wanted her mom to find someone else, someone who could bring her the love and comfort she so desperately needed. She and Cosmo constantly were aware of the fact that though their mother was now eating by her own choice and killing things without their help, she was still on a brink, tottering and they were aware of how easy it would be for Sienna to fall and lose all the progress she and her brother had fought to obtain. Her mom needed a friend at the very least. Edging closer, she reached out, solidifying as much as she could and licked her mom's muzzle where a tear had begun to fall. "Mom, you okay?"

Sienna turned away from her thoughts, and faced her daughter with a smile on her maw, but her eyes were sad...something that had never quite left even after all this time. "I'll be okay, butterfly." Turning away, she looked back at the river, and laid her head on her paws. Quietly, as if more to convince herself than her daughter she whispered, "I'll be okay..."

Lilac nodded, then faded from view to leave her mom alone for a time. She'd come back in a little while to check up on her again.

Miranda lay on Sienna's back ,curled up and looking like a little mini Queen kitty as she surveyed the land around her. She was sticking by her charge's side more often right now, not only because she felt like something was about to happen to her (and naturally she liked to be in the middle of things to make sure they went okay, sticking her little nose in as needed to push things in the most beneficial direction if it called for it) and also because she'd been trying to talk Sienna into seeing her mother, something Naida had asked of her to do. Sienna kept reiterating that she was not ready to head home. She was afraid of what might happen when she saw her family, not just her siblings and parents, but her old love and his children. She feared they'd forgotten about her anyways, and had no wish to face the possiblity that she had never mattered to them much anyways after all. Miranda had finally given up for the moment when Sienna had said, "I'll go when I have someone to come back with me, someone to lean on, and not just my children." Now...the question was how to find such a lion...Miranda twitched her nose in contemplation and at the change of wind.

The change in the wind was a sign though it wasn't known to the two whom still grieved for love passed. A lion, brightly colored at that was walking the lands, his head held high but his heart low. He had just come to these lands after some time of traveling. Maybe now that he was somewhere new, he could find it in himself to move on or at least make a friend. Perhaps a friend would be best, he wouldn't be able another relationship ending because of his failures. He sighed once more, continuing his thoughtful stride and it seemed then that fate decided to be kind to him on this day for the winds shifted again and carried with them a very wonderful aroma. It was the scent of another and when he looked to see where the scent was coming from, he saw a female laying by rippling waters with a very sad look to her. That sorrow he recognized all too well but did he dare move to her?

He did in fact. He couldn't simply move on by. She needed some assistance, someone who knew here pain to talk to. "M'lady...is everything alright?"

Sienna was so preoccupied in her thoughts that she didn't even see the bright green male approaching, or even realize he was there till he'd spoken aloud. For an additional moment, she didn't respond, thinking it was her son, till the title he'd given her had sunk in completely. M'lady, after all, was not what Cosmo would call her. Lifting her head with some surprise, her eyes red with tears yet unshed that she was struggling not to let fall, she still gave him a genuine smile and bowed her head to him. "Oh! I'm terribly sorry. Yes...yes, I'm okay." The last was spoken softly, and without alot of conviction. No, actually she was far from okay, but she was better. She was still on the thin side of life, her coat was shiny and she was healthy, though she still didn't eat as often as her children would of liked. However, at least, she WAS killing it herself now, and that was a step in the right direction.

Miranda, the mini purple/yellow cat, cocked her head, her large eyes studying him. She had a good feeling about this male. and smiled to herself. "Perhaps he is hungry, Sienna?"

"Oh! Yes, if you are hungry, kind sir, you may have the last of my kill, it's still pretty fresh." She gave him another genuine smile, nodding to her kill nearby. Even in the midst of her grief, she was still a very kind and polite soul, her mother having taught her well to treat all lions with respect that she came across.

"I thank you for your generosity M'lady, however I ate earlier. A pity that'll go to waste. Oh well, I'm sure some unfortunate creature will come for it in time." The smile he gave her was so warm and pure. Nothing hid behind that smile but a good soul. But now his face grew serious.

"You know M'lady, it is much better to talk about it than to hold it in. Often times its better to speak with a stranger. They don't know you and so they can not judge you. My name is Nikus and I am at your service." He bowed his head to her then took a seat.

Sienna liked him already, his smile was genuine and she liked the idea of having company nearby that was real and solid. However, the idea of even friendship scared her beyond belief and she withdrew into herself a little further. She didn't want to fail another lion like she had failed her childhood friend Mikhail and her mate. Her old mate. She turned her face away to stare at the water, her thoughts in the past of when the three of them used to play. She hadn't had a friend since them...

Miranda sighed, got up and bit Sienna's ear hard, clinging with her little claws to her Mistress's coat as Sienna's head shot up with a growl. "Stop being rude," she whispered. "If you don't say something, I will. Believe me."

Sienna's face fell once more before she gave Nikus an apologetic smile. "Forgive me, it's just been so long since I've had a friend. Not really since I was a cub." Her gaze fell away once more to the water, but she kept speaking. "I had two friends when I was a cub, one disappeared and I've never quite figured out why except perhaps it was because my other friend had grown so quickly while we both remained small. I've missed him so much, and always wondered what's become of him. The other....he, uh, became my mate, but we split up near a year ago....he has another love now, least my children say so...she was the first to bear his cubs. I was the third, but...."

"I fear I know your pain all to well along with your fears." A sigh left him as he too looked away. His gaze was set on the horizon. The memories flooding back to him like the water from a broken damn. "It's been a long time since I've had a friend as well...however, I only had one friend who had become my mate. But thats all gone now. She's with another as are the cubs she bore. I'm not to see them but thats alright. It's for the best. I failed her when I was her mate so most assuredly I'd fail at being a father too."

Sienna chuckled darkly, "I already failed my own. I failed as a friend and as a mate, though admittedly it was my choice to leave him, not his to leave me."

"Mother!", piped up a younger female voice as Lilac padded up, her pawsteps perfectly silent explaining why Nikus never would of heard her.. She'd reappeared behind him, letting herself come into view slowly so as to not scare either lion, especially the male, and had already heard everything that'd been said to that point. Settling herself beside her mother, she gave him a mirror image smile, looking like she could of been Sienna's sister if it wasn't for the fact she'd already established herself as her daughter....and the odd fact he could see through her. Looking at Sienna, she murmured quietly, "You did not fail us nor did you fail Father. Please, Mom, stop blaming yourself for what happened."

Looking back to Nikus, she added, "Please forgive my mother, there is much to her story she hasn't told you yet that would explain why she realized she had to leave...by the way, my name's Lilac and it's a pleasure to meet you, sir. Forgive my rather abrupt entrance...Perhaps it would be best if I explain her story?" She looked up at her mother, solidifying enough to nuzzle her cheek and taking her silence as the okay. She knew her mother well enough to know when she should take control and when her mother was hurting too much to do it herself. Besides, her mom needed a friend, and if she was left to her own devices, Sienna would push him away rather than risk being hurt anymore.
