I'll go with 'ole Eleanor of Aquitaine. She was a tough stubborn woman who outlived two husbands, was smart and a vicious political player. Her bio reads like a novel. Not only is her life a good read, but I'd enjoy meeting her in person.

My favorite historical figure would have to be General S. Patten because of his leadership during WWII

Mahatma Gandhi. The man is probably the most pivotal person in modern society.
