This is absolutely beautiful visually. In this respect, it was everything I was hoping for. The characterizations were interesting, and the plot acceptable. There was something wrong with the pacing. I'm not saying it was anything obvious; it was not too slow and never dragged. It was something more subtle, as if I had walked in halfway through and as a result all the action sequences were in the wrong places. I had that feeling with the characters as well, likely because i never saw the original. Simply put, as cool as this movie is, it doesn't quite manage as a stand alone and I spent the whole film off balance, not quite able to connect with the characters, always playing catch up. This is a shame, because there is so much to like here.

Pro-tip: You're better off with one general movie review thread instead of several with a limited scope. Only two people have seen any of the films you've done so you won't get any more than 7 posts. With a general thread, you can add in more movies as well as others doing it too so it grows more steadily.

I thought of doing that, but figured that might make it harder to find stuff. Alas, I'm not seeing a way to merge threads.

Artemesia_of_Persia I thought of doing that, but figured that might make it harder to find stuff. Alas, I'm not seeing a way to merge threads. Because there isn't one. Best just to leave them and create general threads from now on. You could make a rules announcement so people realise that.
