So I know everyone cautions new lolitas to be careful of what they buy from this shop, but I thought everyone would like to know:

Bodyline opened a new, overseas/English website about two weeks ago. A lot of their newer pieces are very nice for the price [40 dollars for several great skirts, 60-80 for a lot of nice dresses, bloomers for 10-20].

Hope some of you lolitas-on-a-budget [like me!] benefit from this particular bit of news. I've already joined a group order to get a few pairs of bloomers. (:

Wait.....
I thought Bodyline was pretty good? sweatdrop (lol! Im obviously a noob) its obviously not as elaborate or has as much quality as something from Btssb or Angelic Pretty. So i guess im asking is, Are there clothes really bad and looks nothing like the pics or just doesn't have as high a quality as the top brands? redface

They are hit and miss. A lot of their designs are replicas of brands, for a start. They do use their own photos, however.

Most of the issue with Bodyline is the fact that they don't always use the best materials. They tend towards poly-cotton blends with a lot of synthetic laces. They're also a fetish and cosplay shop which sells maid outfits and lingerie as well as sexy "club" attire, so many of the skirts that they sell are incredibly short; far too short for lolita [some are barely 15 inches, which constitutes a miniskirt].

Bodyline is, however, improving. Even from a year ago, they have vastly changed their inventory and added many very nice pieces. Getting a skirt from them for about 40-50 bucks is a great deal. It's not as high quality as Baby or AP or even Meta, but it's a huge improvement from where they used to be and a good alternative for lolitas who can't make their own clothing [the materials for which would cost about 20-50 dollars depending on fabrics, etc. anyway].

From what I hear, their measurements are generally pretty accurate. Some of their pieces will fit up a few inches from where they list, it just isn't going to be very comfortable though. I haven't bought any of their dresses or blouses personally. Just bloomers. I'll see if I can ask around with a few friends and find out just how far their JSKs will go.

If you want a blouse from Bodyline, you can check the "Queen Size" link at the bottom. It has larger versions of their garments, though it's mostly for blouses and punk items, I'm afraid.

i saw the queen size and compared sizes and the regular dresses are around size 32's in chest and queen size is about 36ish. reg, waist is about 29inch. and queen has about the same. i saw 1 that had a 36inch waist but not much more. i hate being fluffy and i love to wear lolita. thanks for your help spuntino !!!

Some of the sizes in the Queen section actually do go up to about 40 some odd inches, I believe? 104cm is about 41in, I believe? The different images go to different pages, so be sure to check all of them just to be safe. If that doesn't work, you can always custom order sizes from Anna House or Fanplusfriend, I guess. o_-;

Some of the clothes are adorable! (the JSKs and the skirts are so cute) The 20 dollar skirts are really cute.... the cherry and flower ones especially. But the price really does make me skeptical. However, I think I'll plan to by some anyway.

Would you trust their panniers? =/

From what I hear, the 20 dollar and up petticoats are fine. The ten dollar ones are super weak, though, and you'd have to layer them to get any effect.

Again, this is just from what I've read. XD;
I only ordered bloomers [which should arrive tomorrow].

I just received two orders from Bodyline in the past two weeks for anyone who may have been interested in ordering. Everything arrived quickly, but the mail kind of sucks here, so my packages were mauled. One was half-open when I received it, but all of the items I ordered were intact.

The bloomers are awesome, I have to say. They fit great [the red ruffled ones were a bit tight on me until I'd worn them a while, but then they sort of just "relaxed" and were really comfortable]. The ribbon-tied ones are especially comfortable, though much longer than I had expected. The skirt I ordered is more or less what I expected for the price. A good casual piece, but nothing to get all giddy over. The construction is pretty good, but the material is very thin, unlined, and the design is a bit odd.

It's longer than I expected, however, and reaches the same length as the ribbon bloomers do [about two inches above my knee with a petticoat].

When I get a chance to, sure.
My internet is a bit sporadic right now, so I'm not sure when that'll be. I'll try and get a few done later tonight.

My only advice for Bodyline is to have extreme caution towards their one-pieces. The ones I tried fit very oddly in the bust (My boobs are not pancake-flat and do not hang halfway down my torso o_O).

I might try them again, though, for seperates and petticoats.

Also, if you are disappointed in the fabric quality, you might be able to make a pattern from it... Kind of an expensive pattern, but better than scrapping it!

There are anatomical differences between the Asian body structure and the Caucasian body structure. Perhaps it was that?

Or maybe just poor fitting.
