Would it be permissable for DB to pray for you? He'd ask but he's a little shy, and I wouldn't want him praying if that is something you wouldn't appreciate (I understand that some would be offended by that, which is fine and respectable, it just means we have to be cautious about offering a gesture of prayer.)

Just as a quick question, what exactly is done in this guild? Does it fulfill a specific purpose? I am having trouble understanding.

I'm late in welcoming new people (in some cases, months late), but that's because I'm lazy sometimes. But welcome, new people!
Flabbergasted Breakdancer asked (half a month ago) about book recommendations. If you're interested in the fantasy genre, I can't recommend The Mabinogion enough. Be warned, this is not a fantasy novel by a modern author. It's actually a collection of very old Welsh tales. No one's sure just how old, though the versions we have today were recorded in the Middle Ages. My favorite translation is by Jeffery Gantz, but the Patrick Ford translation is also good. Once you get past the seemingly-impossible-to-pronounce Welsh names, it's a really good read, filled with magic, combat, and Medieval-style romance. I found it much, much easier to read, and a whole lot more fun, than Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur, and I'm a huge Arthurian fan. Which reminds me, the Gantz translation contains the Welsh Arthurian romances (Peredur, Owain, and Gerient), but the Ford translation has the Taliesin story.
Seriously, if you're a Tolkien fan at all, you must read the Mabinogion.
(I just remembered, the Ford translation is called The Mabinogi, he leaves off the ambiguous -on ending, so if you're looking for it, that's the actual title he uses)

Hello all, I'm Ai.
I am a seventeen year old senior in high school. I will be going to Florida State University and then transferring to the University of Florida after my undergrad in order to get my pharmaceutical degree. I like latin and this seems like the only job where I can pursue it and still make a nice sum of money. I hadn't decided on this course of action initially and so did not apply to UF, thus why I have to transfer.
I enjoy reading very much but have been, unfortunately, limited in what I have been able to read. I am anxiously awaiting summer in order that I might have more time to dedicate to it.
I am an agnostic atheist (following the etymological definitions) and have had very little to do with religion. Quite recently, however, I have begun attending my local Unitarian Universalist church and I have enjoyed it very much. The people are quick to greet me and seem genuinely pleased to have me there and every person is welcome to speak out on their opinions, including myself, and it has been, all-in-all, a pleasant experience. I have not decided whether I would like to remain in it yet, though.
I spend the majority of my time on gaia lurking in various ED threads and popping up on occasion. Recently I have started a venture, a quest, for a rather expensive avatar that can be seen in my signature and so it is now not that uncommon to see me in the Charity threads.
I am a heterosexual cis-gendered female, white, and upper-middle class.
My hobbies, beyond reading in general, extend to the study of language, culture, religion, and looking at pretty pictures. I do enjoy history but the three things I listed are what I enjoy most about it, although looking at battle tactics and such is also an entertaining pass-time. I had considered majoring in history but I do not wish, very greatly, to be a teacher, and had only considered that course because I viewed it as 'safe,' or a museum curator and can not think of another job to pursue with a major, or even a doctorates, in history.
I attempt to keep up with the political actions and climate and what not but, when it comes to the economy, I am largely stumped. I have taken a college-level economics course and have understood what I have been taught but I have not formed my own opinion on how the economy should be handled to satisfy pragmatic and moral standards. As such, my political stance must be largely unformed and subject to change. I have been researching for years attempting to resolve this but to little avail.
I am pro-choice. I am pro same-sex marriage. I am undecided on National Healchcare. I am undecided on the death penalty (though leaning toward no). I am anti - infant male circumcision in an elective procedure. I am pro the ability to decide for one's self when to die and in what manner. I am discontented with the current age-of-consent, driving age, drinking age, etc. Age based laws in general.
I am sure there is more that I could say in concern to myself but I will leave it, for now, with this: I am honored to have been chosen to be a member in this guild. I am always shocked upon receiving guild invites as I don't see myself as being a present enough figure to get noticed.

I have a classics degree, which is absolutely useless, so you are so right on the Latin. It all sounds interesting. feel free to start threads that interest you, it sounds like you have a lot to say.

I see a shining light and I am a Deer in the headlights. However, I can run+jump through these woods if need be. My Macintosh G5 is wonderful, yet this Gaian World is driven with windows so I crash constantly while trying for gold. I shall be poor poor because I shall not be buying Gaian Cash. Anyways, my Best Wishes to everyone.
