Hmmm, popular topic. Honestly, I would definitely vote for Barack Obama over John McCain. I just think Obama has more to promise, and I actually kinda like his plan for immigration. But there's more to my answer than just that.
My AP US History teacher put the way our government is run into a good perspective. He says our country is like one giant pendelum. Take for instance, we have a republican run government for a couple decades. When the common people become tired of a conservative run government, we look for change. We want to become more liberal. So we start voting democrats in, which causes said pendelum to go in the opposite direction. Then, after a couple of Democrats have run the office, we decide that we're done with being liberal, and we start voting on the Republicans again. Thus starting the entire cycle over again.
The main point is this - The Republicans have run the country for a long time, right? After that, as well as all the crap that has happened while Bush was president (not that ALL of it was his fault), I believe people are going to start going in a more liberal direction. I think the elections will be kinda close, but in the end Obama appears to have a good chance of winning.
Ok, I'm done now. Had to get all that off my chest, sorry sweatdrop

From what I know [and what you may have seen on TV] Barrack was talking to an entrepreneur who was fairly succesful and making a good living and had asked Obama where his money was going.[retirment funds, life savings, etc.]Obama says it was going for good causes like helping the homeless and breast cancer and stuff like that.

Basically what he just said on national television is that HE has control of YOUR money and HE can do with it as he pleases, he just disguised it as a little "robin hood" act.

(By the way, I really thought it was funny when Obama was mentioned as Osama Bin Laden)

I'm, for the most part, for Obama. He's really more for the people.

The only problem I have with him is that I'm afraid, that since he doesn't really know as much about the military as McCain, he might start closing US bases like Bill Clinton.

Now, I know someone's going to say "So what?! Who needs the US military staying in various places and other foreign countries.

Well, from my perspective as a Navy Brat, overseas bases can reach out to foreigners and see what America's really about. Plus, it opens oppurtunities to foreigners.

O.o
I just realized my last post got really off-topic, but I still wanted to make that point.

I like the things that he stands for, but I don't understand how we winded up with TWO candidates who both don't believe in gay marriage. Usually the democratic one helps us try to achieve our rights...

ARG!Ok..so I know it's like one day before we find out who's president but I'm really on edge and I was looking for a specific forum on this alone.

I have mainly learned about the canditates from yahoo news and from a lot of discussion but I have to say I don't want to vote for Obama at all.

To be completely honest the MAIN reasons why people want to vote for him make me sick.I am not speaking about everyone in general but I've noticed that at least where I live..most of the people have three main reasons for voting for him.

1.He's black
2.He's young
3.He'll bring 'change'

In my honest opinion, who cares if he's black?Because he's black won't make him any better of a president and that issue alone could actually bring a lot of problems to this country.

Secondly,so what if he's young? That is actually somewhat of a fault because that means he has less experience and I think that with the crisis we are currently in,we need as much experienced people working towards helping than anything.

And to adress the third issue. You have no idea for sure that he will bring change.I want someone to explain exactly what kind of change you are referring to?He'll rise taxes for people who make above 100,000 dollars a year?

I don't get why people think that's right at all.I know that many are thinking, yeah CEO's of a company get a lot of money and we are poor compared to them so they deserve it.But I hate how no one stops to think that maybe those people worked to get where they are today and just like an average person they work for their job.

Sure some are born rich but even so you have to work to keep a corporation in business..you have to work to rise to the top.You just don't get a freebie in life a lot of the times. It's not fair to anyone and the thing people seem to not realize is that it will affect them too.A lot of the people that will get their taxes raised may be the owners of the very place you work which could cause you to lose your job or get a pay reduction.

That is simply my point of view,I may be wrong. All I'm saying is that it's not something you can gurantee for sure. What change does he plan to bring? So he spews a whole bunch of crap on tv and to people he rally's with but does that make them true? How can people be so positive and then sit here and bash mccain about his views?

I mean I know that if the presidency was at stake..and I was running for the role..I would try my best to please people so they'd vote for me even if I had no intention of doing what I say. It's simply people pleasing. An average strategy which makes me wish people would honestly stop and think more before jumping off the latter and going...'OH HE'S YOUNG,HE CAN DO IT!'Proof please.

Now I'm not saying I'm a huge mccain fan but if I could vote I would vote for mccain. There is this thing I like about him that..it's weird. It's not so much as his character but the way he goes about things.A thing I found admirable was that at least he didn't deny what he was going to do.

A lot of people may feel like losing their food stamps or the war continuing is a bad thing but think about it this way..at least he didn't deny it!He may have known that his ideas weren't going to be popular with the people but he spoke to them about it so that there would be no surprises later.

The risks still stand however but I'm just saying that Obama acts like the kind of person that throws something out there and when he sees it's not popular with the people he takes it back and says something else.He has done it and it's irritating cause it's hard to know where you stand.

And to top of my rant which I apologize for making it so long..I have to say..I wish people would stop saying John Mccain is like Bush!-_- I don't like bush that much myself..but I wish people would see that..it's not ALL his fault. And even if he did make some sucky decisions,we have the governmnt to blame for that, not him.A president can't just sit there and say..'OK..WAR TIME..LET'S GO'..he has to pass it through congress and it's their choice..-_- so even though the guy doesn't appeal to me..it's not fair to blame him for everything.Especially seeing as a lot of the people who hate him now voted for him back then.

-_- And to quote John Mccain... "I'm not another Bush..if you wanted to run against Bush..you should have done it four years ago" that is what he said to Obama.

Anyways..rant over and down..please correct me if I missed anything and feel free to discuss.

good debate. but seriously, any sane woman shouldnt vote McCain. his way of life is arcaic and you cant teach an old dogs new tricks. number one reason to vote Barrack; McCain.

okay look at it this way. Forget bush, mccain has followed the voting of regan and obamma carver. Besides. Noone can find proof that he actually lived where he says he did. And he just appeared out of then air in a way.
