Ok, I am not new to the game...much...but I read on an online oblivion site that the ONLY safe storage place for items besides dropping an item is the White Stallion Lodge. Is this true? I have houses in every city but I don't store anything there because I am afraid I might leave something good and it will disappear (my skooma) ninja Is this true or false? Please answer.

P.S. I was kidding about the skooma (kinda)

That is a lie. you can store your stuff in your house(s) and you won't lose them. I have had most of my stuff in my skingrad house for as long as i've had the place. so to answer your question, yes you can place things in your house.

Ok, thanks for clarifying it for me.

I made the mistake of putting my stuff in a house that wasn't mine on and old saved game, the ship in the Imperial city with the pirates. I killed them all then I'd store my stuff in chests in their ship and one day I came back to find all of it had disappeared except for the default items in the chest. But as for as houses you own Idk it's never happened to me

If you use Captain tsauds chest then your things will be fine as that container's contents do not respawn, however any other conatiner will respawn it's contents generating new ones, and getting rid of yours.

All open topped sacks and torn sacks in Cyrodiil are safe containers, such as the torn one at fort nikel just west of the imperial city, allowing you to use that as storage and live there.

all containers in any house you have purchased, or have the deed to will be safe containers.

The dead drop locations are safe containers, but possibly only after you have completed the quest related to that dead drop.

Shadowmere can be used as a traveling safe container, simply knock him out to store things on him, or retrieve things.

Things are always safe in houses. At least in the containers. I've had stuff in trophy cases go missing, or dropped things trying to position them with LB and had them fall through my floor.

Now that I've bought all the bonus content, I don't bother with normal houses. I just carry my stuff with me, and when I have enough money to restore the home I've chosen (the castle, the spire, or Deepscorn Hollow: the pirate den sucks as a home), I store stuff there.

Ah, there was one instance where the owned houses for me screwed me over. I always used the imperial house, and one time i came back, went to deposit some loot in my chest, and my 100's of items were gone. I was pissed. So many quest items gone before my eyes...lol

Hehehe, I tend to kill people and (temporarily) put items on their corpses.

When I first figured out I could do that I stopped going back to my house all together.
