(( Continued from thread.))

Quickly hopping to her feet and brushing off her dress (With hands that were far dirtier than anything that was on her dress), a grin spread across her face when her eyes met the equally bright-colored canine. "I'm Quarry, it's nice to meet you!" She said, holding out one of her mud-encrusted hands, oblivious to its filth.

The green ocelot spotted dog held out a hand to shake back, not exactly oblivious to the filth crusted on it, but unwilling to call attention to it for fear of seeming impolite. "And my name is Kotalie - but alot of people just call me Ko... Well, not exactly a lot of people... but some of my friends do." She replied, blushing and looking down at the ground.

In lieu of anything to say, she settled on mking small talk. "Is that your garden? It's really pretty..." She said, trying to be nice. In all actuality, she saw that the plants were dying a little, but she didn't say anything... it wasn't nice...

A slightly confused look passed over the dog's face at the mention of the others' nickname - Nobody ever called her anything but her full name. "I wonder what my friends could call me..." She pondered aloud, thinking over her unusual name. "I'm not very nickname-able, I guess," she decided with a chuckle.

"Oh, yeah!" Her face lit up at the mention of her garden. "I don't think the orchids like me, though..." Poking one with a toe, she scowled. "I had them ordered in special and everything, but it just doesn't seem like they like it here."

"Yeah... those are tropical... and the climate here is temperate... you'd have better luck with Day or Tiger Lilys. Orchids... don't do well here..." She tried to explain. Botany was a bit of a hobby of hers, but she had never actually had a garden. All of her knowledge came from books.

"Hmmm..." She said, thinking. "Maybe if you moved them out of the shade of these bigger plants?"

Though she pouted at the other dog's description of the climate differences which were the main culprit in the death of her precious flowers, she perked up at the suggestion that followed.

"Ah, out of the shade! Of course!" She exclaimed, as if this had never occurred to her and was a truly novel idea. Dropping to her knees, she began to dig frantically, in a very dog-like manner, using only her hands. A bit of dirt didn't bother her. Well, a lot of dirt didn't bother her, but that was beside the point.

After digging a sizeable hole in the soft earth, she grasped the unearthed orchids and re-planted them in their new place, several feet out of the shade of the bushes and trees.

Ko hoped that the flower's roots hadn't gone into shock, but didn't say anything to indicate her doubt, simply sitting in the shade of a tree again.

"You know - I know of a nice nickname I could give you - if you're okay with that, that is..." She paused for a moment, unsure of whether the other female had heard her, and then continued, "How about 'Quay'?"
