Roleplaying Rules

1. Don't Godmode

I assume you all know what this means by now, but let's go over it again. No major control of others' characters, no forcing hits, no forcing kills, no godlike powers, no invulnerability, no immortality, no unrealistic ability to dodge every attack that comes at you, no knowing things your character couldn't possibly know. Do it in one of my roleplays, and I'll be more than happy to write you out.

2. Keep IC and OOC separate
This is more complicated. Try to remember that IC and OOC are not the same thing. Even if my character hates yours, that doesn't mean I hate you. =) Keep RL and Roleplay separate, please! This also applies to information that YOU know and your CHARACTER does not.

3. Be literate!
I'm not saying you need to make ridiculously long posts, but proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation are big points, and roleplaying with complex character, description, and some specifics that help us understand what youre doing... well, that's all very important!

4. Be polite in OOC!
This is a must, always!

5. Try to keep OOC chat to a minimum
This rule applies inside the actual roleplay threads. If you have an OOC/planning thread, of course, that's all OOC chat! But in a roleplay thread, try to keep OOC chat down and if it's necessary, be sure to use [brackets] or ((double parentheses)) to distinguish OOC chat.

6. Don't go running off with someone else's RP!
Don't advance plot if you're not one of the creators of a particular RP. They have a plan, and you have to accept that you're just a player in their game. =P

7. Have a little style
We encourage all our players to develop their own roleplaying style, but there are some things that are universally... unstylish. Please roleplay in third person! First-and-second-person is an incredibly confusing and far too personal way to roleplay.

8. Be decent
We are a guild for mature roleplayers, which means that darker themes and romance are perfectly acceptable, as well as some gorey combat scenes if you really want them. However, Gaia's rules are pretty clear, and so are ours. Nothing explicit, nothing downright lewd. You can have romantic relationships, that's just fine. You can make colts if you want, but do it offscreen.
