I hope I'm putting this in the right area, seemed relatively general. sweatdrop
I have trouble coming up with poses.. I have a lot of characters I'd love to draw, but that seems to be the reason I don't, in fact, draw them. I just simply can't think of anything. o_o
I'm trying to get away from pose references and be more creative, and I can be creative on everything but this. xD
Then when I do come up with a pose, it's boring and labelled as "static" by others.
Does anyone have any tips or advice that could help me? eek

Try mixing up some action poses with 3/4 view then rotate the torso, or bird's eye view, or ant's eye view. Try exaggerating movements like strikes with weapon/fist.
I guess that's all I've got for the moment. Still learning myself.

http://www.posemaniacs.com/blog/Use that site for figure drawing to help get more familiar with different poses and angles. Once you get more used to doing them you'll find yourself using them more and more in actual drawings rather than practice sketches.

When looking for poses sometimes I will just look at the store ads. Sometimes you can get ideas just from how they look. At least, that helps me. Or if I know I want to convey something specific in a pose or expression, I may look through my manga books and study how they were drawn, and if something like that might work for my picture. [I usually reference hands, since I struggle with realistic looking hands.]

Ooo, those both sound helpful, too. I'll try those as well, ty. ^^

I've been using posemaniacs for independent studies and its GREAT! if you seriously want some practice with poses and anatomy...this is the place to go. *bows with gratitude for the makers of the site*

When I'm absolutely bumbstruck on what to draw I let fate deside.
